I think my inexperience and lacking patience to do prep-work and use proper armatures is working against me... curses.
The wolf's head is gone... it broke apart today when I was handling it. I kinda should have known it would happen, as this was the remaining piece with a clay armature kinda interior... and all the others had broken apart and had to be redone - but had sorta hoped that this one wouldn't.
Oh well... time to rethink the whole construction of the wolf's head. Have decided to do the skull - upper and lower jaw - and teeth first, then bake that and add skin, texture, eyes, and hair on top of that. Have finished with the upper part of the skull and most of the teeth for the upper jaw, except the molars.
Doing it this way will allow me to do it more realistically. Am planning on a closed mouth version... but could work it into an open mouthed version if that would look cooler... actually... that may look better with the changes in the composition I have made to the trio sculpt: will have the two girls to the right, holding on to each other, with the fort wall behind them where a wolf has clawed through the wooden beams and has the head and right paw sticking through the hole at the left.
This improved composition has more links with the movie itself than my previous concept drawing ideas had. Though, now that I have bought more Super Sculpey, I am unsure, once again, whether I should stick with the bust design or make full figures, as originally planned.
Tough choices... and really hope to get started on the face sculpts soon.
Still sux that the wolf's head broke apart... :cry there were definitely some parts of it I liked. Oh well... just bummer and move on, I guess. :thumbsup
