I highly doubt it....I'm not getting excited about anything until cameras start rolling....
I think making another Ghostbusters with an all new cast with cameos by the originals is the only thing that would work.
A younger group picks up where the former left off, with a little old school mentoring. A reboot would not be good, and the original cast isn't getting any younger.
If they could pull something like that off...wow. That would be awesome. Maybe someday, a worthwhile script will be put together while the cast is still alive. Going the franchise route with cameos by the original cast seems the only way to go right now.
I love both Ghostbusters movies. But is it a crime to want more? I would love to see the next generation take on this classic. Of course there will never be another Bill Murray, but I just want more proton packs and comedy.
I love the idea of Venkman as a ghost. He could be like Nearly Headless Nick for the new Ghostbusters.
Maybe Ray and Egon could "consult" on matters regarding the proton packs and the containment system.
I feel the same way about this as I do a Blade Runner prequel/sequel.
The potential reward far outweighs the risk.
Go for it!
Ray Parker Jr. gotta eat!
I don't think it's a crime to want more, but that sense of wanting more is frequently a contributory cause of a lousy sequel. See, studios get lazy, and they see rabid demand from the fans as a license to just make any old crappy film. Then they do, and fans get bitter about it or you see a split in the fan community with some saying "I don't care, I just want to see the costumes on the big screen again" and others saying "It's a INSULT to one of the GREATEST MOVIES of 1984!!!!11!!" or whathaveyou.
I'd think, by this point, we've seen enough franchises that are only too happy to give us "more" ending up disappointing a significant portion of fans to learn that "more" does not equal "better." If you order more steak, and 7 times out of 10 they bring you a plate full of gristle...would you keep ordering?
GB2 isn't a train-wreck so much as it is a too-aware almost-remake of the first film. It's fun, but it's a bit more kid-oriented, a bit less of an edge to it, and a LOT more focused on slime.
