Re: Ghostbusters 3

Unless The Toronto Sun is also a joke news site, whoever reported this story should lose their job. They have no business working in journalism.

Well, ever since they did away with the SUNshine girl, sadly you'd be more right than you know...:cry.

(No, they're not technically a joke news site, but it's soooo close as to make no odds.)

Too bad for Letterman.

Bill Murray admits new Ghostbusters 3 script is being considered - YouTube

Bill said they are writing a new script and "well see". As I said before I think that Bill is doing this all on purpose to generate more interest and tease the fans and get them riled up. I would not doubt that Dan and the rest are in on it. But if Bill lost his rights as Dan Aykroyd claims and Bill knows it will get made anyway he will change his tune. I think secretly he wants to make it and he is also trying to cover his butt if it flopped and would be able to say "I told you so." Or if it is a hit he will say that "he knew it would be" etc. But I think all this hype is just another marketing tactic and will make the film even more successful. A lot of sites said he sgined on already for 3 and 4 but not sure how true they are. I still think it will be made and Bill will be in GB3. But as Dan said "they need to get moving NOW." Not wait until one or more of them are real ghosts.

Ghostbusters 3 is a go as Billy Murray signs on - report - Yahoo! omg! UK

But it seems there has been a change of plan.

Ramis has received word that Murray was agreeing to the project.

He tells SuperOfficialNews.com, "It was kind of crazy. Just out of nowhere, I get a phone call from Bill at almost three in the morning... and he simply said, 'Yeah, OK, I'm in!' That's Bill Murray for you. Surprising and straight to the point.

"Bill also said a major factor in his decision to do the movie had been all the support he received from fans."

Nothing is official but the fact that Bill seems more open to it in the video leads most to believe it will happen. I am pretty sure it will happen with or without him so he may as well do it.

As much as this news is great about the big BM signing on for GB3, I'm still gonna hold off my excitement until this is in production or I at least see a trailer. People sign on and drop out of movies all the time so time will tell what will finally happen.

It's also great that "Rick Moranis will come out of retirement to reprise his role as Louis Tully". AS for the following statement "Ashton Kutcher has been suggested as cast newcomers - and possibly the faces of the new Ghostbusters".

Dear god help us.....I wonder who he slept with to be considered for that role?

This is the same fake news story debunked on the SAME PAGE OF THIS THREAD. Like, a couple of posts above your own.

Maybe so but Bill seems to express interest in the interview. I think he is just downplaying it. Dan said that they will be making it with or without him but that they "will leave the script open" just in case. So I don't doubt that the movie will be made and I think Bill will jump in before they make it.

I'd agree with all that. Fingers crossed for a good script!

Okay, so they might be able to make a GB#3.

But should they?

The cast is retirement age. I don't wanna watch them struggling around in proton packs and making "we're too old for this" jokes for 2 hours. Having Bill Murray as a ghost might be funny but it's not enough to take this bad idea and make it a good one IMHO.

I don't think a next-generation-of-GBs story would be very cool unless it was a whole group of young guys as funny as the originals. And that means they could anchor their own movie alone. That is not likely to be what we get for the new stars in any new GB#3.

Summed up - I think we will anticipate this movie until it arrives and we see it. Then we will want to forget it happened a few months later.

I would love to see a "bunch of old fat guys chasing ghosts" and making corny jokes lol. I don't really care about the script I would just love to see the original cast come out of retirement one last time or two for nostalgia sake. A new cast does not interest me as much. For those of us that seen it in the theaters as kids it has a special place in our hearts and no one else could replace these guys. I would much rather see them "struggling" than see a new young cast running around.

yeah im guessing if they make a nr3, they will introduce some new charactersto go with the old ones, so they can continue it after that, without the old guys.

Maybe they will kill off the original cast and they will come back as ghosts to fight the new younger members. :lol :popcorn

Makes me go cross-eyed thinking about GB3, because the first one was so great, and the second so bad IMHO.

Bill Murray always talks about the orginal script and/or ideas for GB2 being great, but they got whittled away. Does anyone know anything about the orginal concept for the second movie?

Whether it ends up being good or bad does not have anything to do with the previous movies. I hate when people say "Oh they are going to ruin the first one making this" or ruin the franchise etc. Probably the stupidest thing that I ever heard. Nothing can change the success of the original and any sequels are just a bonus. As a diehard fan since the first one came out in theaters I like both movies and just seeing them. I really don't care if the scripts are great I just love all the cool stuff and the characters and effects. A great story is just a bonus. It is fictional anyway so who cares? I would not care if they busted ghosts in a retirement home.
