Ghostbusters 3 is a go! (according to the writers, director and producer)

I am of the mind that, when I see it will believe it, when it comes to movies. As far as Murry is concerned: If GB3 is a hit; he just missed out. If GB3 is a bomb; then he didn't loose face.

What's wrong with that? I know Murray was great and all, but does a potential franchise really have to hinge on one actor?

I don't have a problem with a new cast, as long as it is a good one ( no Dane Cook or Seth Rogan...please). I just don't want a half ass movie with all but one original anchor of the original cast.

So Bill says he'll do it, but the script has to be really good. Dan says, we're going to do it without Bill. Sounds like the script never got good but Dan wants to push it through anyway, I mean, what else does he have going for him?

It's been in developmental hell for so long, and we've heard so many proposed synopses and writers, I just hope this isn't going to be a disaster of Phantom Menace proportion.

Ghostbusters 3 could work, hear me out. With Judd Apatow at the helm it and the sense of humor he has plus not being a big budget CGI overload director it has potential. And with the idea of handing over the franchise is great, to me I welcome Seth Rogen, James Franco, and I'd even lie to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt because these guys grew up with these films and maybe it influenced their sense of humor in the first place.

And as for Murray...come on he's being classic Bill. Of course he says he's not going to do it, and if he spotted on set he will just say he's "visiting" or something so then when the film does come out and you see Venkman you and everyone else goes nuts.

They only other thing that would be cool if they took an idea from Ghostbusters The Video Game, the upgrades of the proton pack. it would be a slight re-fresh with not really changing the look of the pack that much.

All in all it could work if its made to feel real, I just wish they would make the ghosts a bit scarier, which might make the jokes funnier as real comic relief because its trying to detract on the actual horror-ness of the film. But hey I'll take what I can get.

I think getting middle aged men to replace the old GB would be hilarious. Add in some Paul Rudd and Jason Bateman to the mix and you got comedy gold. Maybe even Simon Pegg.

Yes yes and yes! I forgot about Paul Rudd. Good call. Its all about dry humor which is why I want Rogen in it. Watch 50/50 if you haven't already. I just don't want Jonna Hill...he tries just to hard. the next four they pick need to have a lasting core and bond. Thats why the other two films were awesome they made you believe the entire ghost busting world.

here are my new ghostbuster picks

-seth rogen
-jason segel
-paul rudd
-joseph gordon-levitt

Might as well have an emotionless love interest for the lead character, and some pale skinned vampires that have a 'I gotta tear my shirt off at every turn' syndrome. Lets have senseless explosions, racist jokes... hell, let’s just have Michael Bay do it. If there was ever meant to be a third Ghostbusters, it should have been made twenty years ago.

The other day I was struct with the perfect concept for a trilogy of Ghostbusters movies.
Needless to say ... I hope GB3 doesn't happen, till I have my say! ;)

I know it's risky trying to be That Guy With The Ideas in a thread like this, but how about.....

- New York seemed to be an awfully convenient outlet for ghosts in two movies' worth of in-universe time...
- So now, it's been 20+ years and it's happening elsewhere in the world. (Explanation? not much required, just that it took the forces-at-work longer to find another outlet, far from the containment vault in NYC to be on the safe side.)
- Paranormal experts know who to call, but the GB crew are scattered to the winds since NYC. All acknowledge they're older and might not be able to handle it; Venkman is off on permanent vacation in the caribbean or something.
- Ray and Egon are genuinely jazzed, scientifically, to be part of a new happening. Winston, maybe not so much. He always seemed like the reluctant one.
- They need more hands, more minds, so they turn to a couple trusted acquaintances, or maybe even interested volunteers, to round out a new team. A blend of passing the torch and hauling their old selves out again; definitely better handled than a simple 'new generation' approach.

Could work...
