Game of Thrones Arya catspaw dagger buying options?

not very useful, sanding down material on folded steel, it means new acid etching all over the blade, so means take all off before doing anything.
I saw the replica is 19" isn't too long, from screen it looks a bit smaller, would think 16"
Asking, because I am considering this buying option:

Notice that none of the images on the site show that writing  At the very very least I would message them about the spelling error, that's just not acceptable, makes it look like a cheap knock off.

Usually when taking off unwanted text I would start off with rubbing alchohol and a very sharp craft knife. If that doesn't shift it, I'd move on to acetone. I've only done it on screen printed bottles though, wouldn't want to risk it on a piece like this.

Laser engraving as in removing part of the blade surface is what is required to remove the text? I contacted Valyriansteel.com about the typo. I can't believe they haven't received other comments. What are they gonna do? Swap them out over that? Doubtful. A percentage of the purchase price being refunded would be sweet.

i'd just sand if off then rub a bit of ferric chloride over it to bring back the pattern - but then again it is an expensive piece - i made one of these a while back but sadly its not very accurate - drawings i used were way off and i hadn't watched the show enough to realise until later - but going to make another and this time i'm using real damascus

Comment from Valyriansteel.com.

"We are very sorry for this. We are embarrassed. The contract factory messed up and inscribed them all this way, we only just found out. We have no way to fix the typo, since it is in the metal, nor do we have any with the correct spelling we could exchange with. We are learning from this error so hopefully it never happens again.

We can do a return if that works for you, but we cannot fix it. Also for what it's worth the stand can be adjusted to keep the laser mark in the back."

Well at least they offereda refund. Maybe they should try using a sticker next time so as not to ruin the entire prop! I think it's inredibly underhanded and possibly illegal that none of the avertising image feature this marking or even describe it in the text. Even Ebay of all peple offer recourse to these sorts of shenanigans, with the 'item not as described' disclaimer.

I wouldn't have picked up one of these up due to the other innacuracies, but I feel for those who have shelled out for it, very poor show.

I have to mention, a couple photos on their site clearly show the text on the blade. Now, it's the prototype, so Arya is spelled correctly, but you can't say they do not show that there is text on the blade. I knew that going in. I was hoping it would be an easy task to remove. Turns out, not so much. Part of me wants to say F' it. Sand down the blade till the text is gone and then see how bad it is. If it softens the damascus pattern, maybe sand the entire blade to keep it consistent. Then do some serious weathering on the handle. Ruining the collectibility of a limited edition replica? Yes. But, it's mine and I'd prefer something that better matches what was seen in the show.

It'd be interesting to know if when they say 'all' they mean the whole 1000 of the edition or they just refer to a smaller first batch. Considering yours is #152.

As for the markings themselves, they're pretty common in officially licensed replicas. I own a Museum Collection Sting sword and that thing comes with the full Lord of the Rings logo marked on the blade, plus the name of the edition, number, product code, place of origin and copyright. It's not a big deal though, you can just display them with the clear side of the blade facing out. Valyrian Steel replicas are the same.

EDIT: I contacted Valyrian Steel and they confirmed that the typo is only present in the first batch of these, not the full run. Future blades will have that corrected, however it could take up to two years for them to order them depending on demand.
