Found! Obi-Wan Kenobi ANH Lightsaber Emitter

i have been a little quiet over the last couple of days.......but that is because i have been hot on the trail.

i have a few leads i am working on here. if i were able to find some IG-88 heads is there really an interest for them here and what is a reasonable price? i am not interested in one myself.....but i thought i would check here for those who are. if you are REALLY interested in an IG88 head and are willing to put out some cash for one let me know so i can make an offer for you all if the opportunity arises.......PM me so we don't clutter up this thread

i am still looking for the interconnectors too...

Is this a partially assembled Death Star gun? It doesn't look familiar.

I'm pretty sure it's complete.

Just think if Obi Wan had ever taken out an Ig-88 droid by driving his saber blade into its head all the way up to the hilt... Hmmm...

This isn't the update asked for, but my package has finally been mailed and should be crossing the ocean today. How long it will take to get to me after that is a question. ;)

You lucky dawg :D

Holy cow.

22 thousand views and counting?  That's amazing.  I've never seen a view count that high on ANY of the forums I frequent.

Ummm . . . Probably a thousand are just from me . . . :$

I'm getting the part number narrowed down for the correct balance pipe, but I don't know what it is yet.
Any interconnector assembly Pre-Mod 585 will be wrong. Mod 585 introduced the balance pipe with the correct wider diameter in 1952. It was a mod applied to both Mk8 and Mk9 Derwents though I suspect it's probably more widespread in the Mk9's (which would be why Serafino's guy referred to it as a Mk9 part).

The correct IG-88 heads came from Mod 622 (also in 1952). This Mod applies to the Derwent 5, 8 and 9 but it was apparently not very widespread.
So far I don't think there's any external way to tell if Mod 622 was applied. One of the combustion chambers would have to be opened.

PS - This is all technical stuff a scrapyard probably won't know.
If you come across an engine you can try to ask for the service logs and maybe get lucky.
If you can get the serial number I can have my contact run it and perhaps find out the engine's history.

Ok Guys...I was messing with my old replica 'pipe'when a thought hit me...Do we have a theory yet for the ring of holes being darker?
I'm seeing weathering on the other parts of this thing, but on both we've seen so far, the ring of holes is clean...

I messed around with the original Chronicles pic too and it's definately darker...

I don't think it was just painted...
Thoughts?

Here's mine...re weathered. Carbon scoring added :lol

And the real ones...

I have several incorrect balance pipes and the ring of holes IS dark on some of them.

Here they are. Main problem is they are a little too small and have a ring of 10 holes instead of 16. The 'weathering' is all vintage burnt in.

They are clearly 100% machined. You can see the machining marks throughout.

For comparison the one in the middle is a Gavidoc.

And here's one installed on Obi saber. All parts are original vintage apart from the transistor washer, wires and gear.

I have a few for sale. Watch the JY.

Marcus - can you post a couple of pics please?

Cheers.

You know... for some custom sabers those wouldn't be bad at all. They would also be a pretty dang good weathering guide for some correct replicas as well..
