Been lurking here for a year or more...just today, me and my ten year old son finished building our first Airsoft Mauser project for his birthday.
It's not screen-accurate in any sense, it's all found items...reminiscent of a DL-somethingsomething. Comments/crit welcome, but remember, just a fun project for me and the kiddo.

I think it looks great! The weathering is freakin' fantastic! If I could change anything? I would probably replace the muzzle for something a little bigger. The gun is a monster, but the muzzle looks a little too puny by comparison. But that's it. The rest is brilliant. :thumbsup

Thanks for the kind words. means a lot coming from the pros around here!

yeah, we both agreed the muzzle was too small after reviewing the Han blasters.
So we drilled some holes in a air mattress pump nozzle and found some fitting or other and some aluminum tape and vee-oh-lah!

Also, the scope mount is both halves of a conduit hanger, and the scope is two of those $6 Daisy scopes cut down and mushed together. This project has been a blast for both of us (no pun intended) and we're most likely going to do more.

I recognize one of the parts on the side as part of a welding helmet facemask swivel thingie....... you know.....it connects the facemask to the headliner....

And I see the round thumbscrews from that same piece on both sides as well. Great use of found parts.

Nice paint job BTW !

Thanks! The paintjob was the easiest part, really. Just dry-brushing Testors Brass.

The swivel thingys and thumbscrews...yep, you nailed it. I have boxes of junk like that I picked up from various jobsites over the years.
