Firefox MIG-31 movie aircraft

The OP doesn't respond to posts on this forum, but still goes online here from time to time. The fact that at least one member here hasn't heard from him, and has had a deposit with him for three years, is concerning. Even if he did respond, I don't think it would be wise to chance giving him your money unless a model is ready to be shipped. This way there is some sort of buyer protection via PayPal.

I'll confess that I'm mainly posting in this thread in hopes that TazMan2000's suggestion from last year-

Is Jon also known as Firefox3D?
He last logged in last Saturday.

Perhaps anybody who has a deposit on this should follow your lead and post a message here to see how far he is behind and how many people are waiting for their orders.

might bear fruit... even if it's increasingly looking like Firefox3D will continue to just ghost this thread. Its been my dream (and I know for pretty much everyone else here) to one day own an actual movie-accurate recreation of the MiG-31 Firefox, and I do hope that Firefox3D either shows back up to take orders again, or provides the 3D Files on a store so that we can buy the files and print it on our own because every image of this Firefox beats all other existing MiG-31's available on the internet and it'd be a crime for it to just... fade back into the ether.

Am I just preaching to the choir or yelling into the void? I hope not. Though I'm under no delusions of this working either.

TL;DR: Another hopeful customer is resurrecting this thread in the vain hopes that this Firefox can see the light of day again.

There is another thread from a long time ago, but the user was banned (I think it was his own choosing, if I remember correctly) who created a large 3D printable model. 1/18 Firefox

There is always hope if there is enough interest. There are many good 3D artists here, and I'm surprised with the interest on this aircraft that another artist hasn't stepped up to create this. I might take a shot at this myself, but I have so many projects on the go and little room, not to mention that my skills need improving before I can tackle something so "organically mechanical" (or mechanically organic) with the shape of the airframe.

Perhaps someone can entice very accomplished resident 3d artists like laellee IzzyMel & paulsboutique & others, to take a stab at designing this.

HAAHAHAHAHA What are the chances.... I was just catching up on this thread when the notification came up. I had no idea he had gone AWOL/whatever. I never pursued this one because of all the work that had already been put in here; it never makes sense to me to remodel something that's done so well the first time. Having said that, sounds like this is an exception? I won't be freed up for a couple of weeks, but I'd be in.

(On that note, working on the T2 project this week and will have an update shortly. I did see the the Julien's pics as well, if you want to send me over any observations (y) )

I would never recommend a member to step on someone's toes on making something in parallel with another member, but the OP was only planning on releasing physical models, and if I'm not mistaken, there is a lot of interest in a 3D printable model. Perhaps you can start a thread to gauge interest to see if it would be worth the amount of work.

I loved this movie as a kid , I can't count the number of times I saw it at the cinema. This would be a great project to tackle, alas i'd need to retire from work to find enough time to even catch up and clear my work bench for a project like this !!
