FINISHED (see pg 21) WIP - BTTF - Nike Air Mag

nope, for that, you'd better redo the whole upper by yourself.
I noticed that the big difference with the Mags (RD and Movie shoe) is that lace box that is too long. Even with the round edge around it, it is going 1 cm too far.

Let's finish an old project :)

I probably won't use this strap and the sole but it is to get an idea

It looks good and I actually like the way the cuff is incorporated into the collar.
My only question is - why is there a seam on the outside?

Most people won't get this, but there are certain types or styles of shoes that are known by the pattern. And example would be a "Darby" (spelling?) where regardless of who makes it, the shoe is basically the same. I'd love to see the MAG become the same.

Thanks cavx ;)

Actually, There is 2 seam... I had to make the like this so the toe box would be soft as we both like it :D
But this is a proto, i wanted to test some new technics on these to get better and later on, I'll put this knowledge to another buildup of Mags !

And yes, I see what you mean. I'd like the Mags to become a classic shape that would be recognisable...
So I've simplified it to "this" ^^

Not sure if i shared this or not, but this is what I came up with after several MAG attempts.

Both the external shell and inner liner are the same except the position of the seams at the inner side. The cuff could be added as 3rd part. The dotted part on the heel is only attached to the liner, so not visible on the outside.

yes, I saw this picture ;)

About the variation on the seam position : it is how they made the HCs and the V2s : That insure you to have a flat seam on the side.
Otherwise, you'll end up with a bumpy seam...

I think I have learn almost all things about how to make the upper good but I still don't really gets how to make the white collar perfect with the ears and the holes :/
Even after my HC mod of the Upper :/ cloneprops if you walk by...

Yes, the outer shell seam can be done as normal, but the inner liner seam is laid flat.

And comfy ! These are going to become my "everyday pseudo Mags" / "test shoe" :D
I tried a bunch of technics to get to this result and i will improve with time. But as ma sewing machine just broke, i won't make another pair for some weeks.

i don't know if you can see it but these are mid top. (Case of the abscence of the ears and white colar - which is the hardcore part) AND I now know how to sock toe my shoes :D

on the next pair, i'll add a better lacebox and a better rounded back + reinforcements for the heels + more foam paddong to maintain the ankle. And to be pefect, i would have to get a light grey fabric but i couldn't find nothing in here :/
i just found a rubber sole supplier. I hope they won't desapoint me and arrive quick !

Yeah $160 to get mine serviced and re-timed. And in the end, I really need to spend about 2K for a machine that will do what I actually want it to do.

O_O'

is that the sewing machine for making shoes that you are looking for ?

Sews everything. Will sew though your hand :)

I want to be able to do multi layers of webbing, leather etc.

I want to do a lot more leather work and need something that can not only drive the needle through, but pull the thread tight too. I use a poly-cotton blend that you can't break with your hands and the machine I have now seems to have an issue with that at times.

Nope, i ran some tests and shoe goo is good for some details but not enough for the main part. I used some heavy duty contact glue first. Then some E6000 (wich looks like shoegoo) for the last mm on the edges. For the moment it worked perfectly and i walked around with them without any problem :)

tomorrow, i'll try them for a longer period of time.

I'm really enjoying this thread. I like the black pair a lot. They remind me of my Radii's a little. I think a concrete splatter would look nice on them. I'd love to see a red, black, and white pair.

It looks like designers got inspired by the Air Mags in this company :)

Stay in tune... I'm onto someting :D (but as my sewing machine is down it can be in a while :/ )

Last update on the "Denim Casual Mags" :

• I've walked them for a long period these days (home and outside on different surfaces) now and they're still very comfy and the shape haven't been altered. The sole and the upper are well attached thanks to the Heavy Duty glue and the E6000. The only "cons" I noticed when wearing them is that they're too warm.
Maybe it is because I'm not really used to wear High Tops :/
• I've added a rivet/snap (don't know how it is called in English) to attach my GITD straps on :)
This allow me to put my EL buckle setup AND this Simple Strap and help it not to fall down on your ankle :

Next test : probably some paintings on the soles... or adding some "MAG" decals on the heel ;)
