Final Fantasy VIII Squall Leonhart Gunblade

working on the cylinder now, dremeled out the grooves, some touch ups and final sanding to go then it's not far off paintwork

near done!......added final bits and pieces, sanded down nice and smooth, attached the chain and after adding about a millimetre thick/thin layer of bondo to the blade I carved the lion emblem into the bondo with a dremel....hopefully the paint won't fill it all in

thought about it!
was actually going to try and make a mold from it, but it's a gift for my sister's birthday....which is in about 16 hours (lol). So it's a one off.
just started giving it a coat of chrome paint...looking good so far

This is fantastic. I always loved this weapon (and game). I hope she's as stoked as I would be if somebody gave me one of those. You've put a ton of work into it and the results speak for themselves ... superb work :)

DONE!!!
Lacking in sleep after being up til 4am finishing it for my sis's birthday today.
Many coats of chrome paint from a spray can and a few of clear gloss to seal it.
Carved the lion head emblem (Grieve I think it's called) out of bondo and added it to the chain.
Made a simple stand and painted it a few times.

First attempt at a major prop build and kinda happy with the result!

Seriously incredible. I LOVE this, especially the engraving work you did on it. Amazing! Your sister is lucky.

it's sweet that you put a lot of time and effort to construct such an amazing replica of a beloved weapon for your sister (now if I can somehow convince my own brother to do something similar...:love)

fantastic job! :D

thanks
the main part of the gunblade (blade/handle) was 12mm mdf, and added a piece of 6mm to each side of the grip
