Fight Club Tyler Durden T-shirts?

Nice. Bet those cost you a pretty penny.

Is that a new shirt under the glasses? :eek Looks different from the one you posted on page 29

Definitely the most I've ever spent on a pair of shades.

Yeah, that is a different shirt. I'll post more pics of it soon. It's pretty close to the one Durden wears, but it's green.

Didn't you guys post here that most of Olivier People's sunglasses are merely cosmetic only? I think the replicas you can buy are actually better sunglasses than the actual ones.

I'm not really into that practice; paying for brand name, especially hoitey-toity brands like them. No thanks.

I have quite a few pairs of Oliver Peoples, and they're absolutely the best sunglasses I've ever worn. The clarity of the lenses is bar none. I couldn't imagine that any replica would be better quality than an original.

When you wear a replica, you know it's a replica and it just doesn't feel the same. Oliver Peoples high quality frames just feel so good :cool

I concur:thumbsup

Personally, while I'm not discounting all of what you say, I still think there's a large placebo effect in play, due to brand name, and that's specicically they bank on. I'll give two examples:

1. You buy a high quality fake designed to fool. The fake is so good, to you, it's now the same as the actual, so it doesnt matter.

2. Ultra expensive brands literally demand said prices due exclusively to brand. This isnt present in only sunglasses either. Two indentical T-shirts, one is brandless and sells for 10, the other merely has GAP sewn in... and it 3x the price solely due to that. I have a pair of sunglasses from Scarface that match the outrageously priced ones in the film 99%, literally. I've actually worn the "legit" brand from a friend and then my brandless, 10 dollar ones... and there's literally no difference whatsover. Not kidding. They are the same in color, size, and design. One goes for 10, the other for 3000... seriously, because it's just an ultra snooty brand.

Not saying the same of Olivier People, since I have no plans to ever wear any... most of their designs only look good on Pitt to me, but that same model I was referrng to, they themselves confirmed that pair offered no real protection and was just for fashion, yet the eplicas, being about 85ish% accurate DO have actual UV protection and the same look and tint, etc. In my mind, it's clear which SUNglasses I'd rather buy. Anyway, that was the OP523 model, not the one you were talking about. Just throwing in my two cents.

Excuse any typos... really hard writing this out on a glitchy cell phone. :-!

Pacino I see what you mean but I feel differently with Oliver Peoples 523. I have both replica and original and theres no comparison. BUT I do feel this way with the FC jackets, Soul Revolver jackets are awesome and I plan to buy one some day (price 300-400). Yet you have Jonathan A. Logan, pretty much the same as SR and they charge like 1,000-2,000. It's stupid. I wear my jackets hard, they're going to get dirty, scuffed up and wet. I'm the opposite with my sunglasses, I'll gently and slowly take them off, clean them off with a cloth, carefully place them in their case, then safely put them in my safe.... Now you can punch me in the face.
:p

Yeah, it just pretty depends on how you choose to want to wear them; I'm in the desert, so I really need functional sunglasses more than anything else.

That being said, I see at least two people have bought that vest I introduced. Hopefully at least one of them is someone here, so be sure and post some pics when you get it! I'd love to see more!

Nice! looks pretty darn close :thumbsup

And Personally, I'm with Pacino on the Oliver peoples thing. No way I'm going to spend a couple thousand dollars on Sunglasses because of a brand name :cool

Oliver peoples actually don't retail for $1000. They usually stay around $300-$400. So, it's not because of a brand name, it's because of the movie association. It'd be great if they hadn't become so valuable, but someone along the way was willing to pay $1000, and then that became their value. They're worth whatever someone will pay, and if you want something bad enough, you don't care what it costs. I think they're certainly worth what they retailed for, but I can't personally justify (or more importantly - afford) their current price tag.

Well put.

Yeah, I was talking about my Scarface shades about the 3000 price tag. That model is the Linda Farrow 6031... outrageous. Not OP. Still, ,even the hunderds is still quite pricey when it comes to shades.

I need to see if there is a Scarface thread here too :-!

I want one!!:) I like yours better than the one in the film! Definitely a better cut on yours.

Yeah, the collar is a bit too tall and of course the color is off. It looks grayish in certain light, but it's definitely green. Still, it's the closest I've found so far.

What is it made out of? It kinda looks crocheted to me; and that can't be too comfortable.
