G'day folks,

I am thinking that it is high time that these things made a re -appearance for us to buy LOL I gather they were pretty expensive initially and I am not a wealthy guy, so I wanna make it as cheap but accurate as possible. So we can all get one:)

So I need help with reference and advice first!!

Pics folks? What do they look like?

Size/Dimensions?

Materials?

Other Comments?

I had thought just of putting casts of a generic facehugger in them. I gather this will be a long project. I already have 1 partner in those but if anyone wants to hop on board to help make a run of these......PM me:) Feel free I don't bit LOL

Warmest Regards
Christian

2 things...

1 I would love a tutorial on this...
it's been on my to do list for a while, and I already hunted down one of the old Halcyon kits for it

a how to, a kit... hell, actually just dimensions and a source for the clear tubing and I could start to roll with this

2. shouldn't this be in the prop forum?

Maybe....I guess modelling skills would be needed though LOL

Good points. I am surprised nobody else has chimed in with pics or any other comments.....sigh.....

Thanks for the ideas though matey:)

I've seen this come up before, and the problem was always the cost of the tube... I own one of Frank's, and I wouldn't mind adding another one to my collection

I would love to get one- I have had a Halcyon ALIEN facehugger for a long time- spent a lot of time airbrushing it.

Tordoc.....Wonderful addition mate!!!!!!!!!!!!! I found pic 2 and three were unable to be enlarged. You got a better source for these files? They are awesome!!!! Just can't read 'em without my glasses LOL

Yes...cost, rears it's dreaded head. Let's talk about a ballpark figure......I am sure the facehugger component wouldn't be expensive kit or otherwise........Let's just focus on the tube........Maybe we can sculpt the rims and top and cast 'em????

What's the cheapest everyone thinks we can do this folks? Mmmm.....group effort maybe?

Pauly.....love to see your work mate? Don't be shy...bless us:)

Cost does always seem to be a problem. I always assumed it was an issue with the glass/plastic part (as opposed to the top and bottom pieces.)
I would love one of these myself:thumbsup
I don't have any real skill to volunteer to the project.

my stasis made by Frank has a measurement of 23" tall and 11'' wide... Trying to find a store online that would sell at that size

Is that it's overall dimension c or just the tube?

Maybe they would have to be custom rolled? Mmmm....

here is my stasis tube
a1.jpg

the whole thing measures at 33'' tall

Is it a "common" acrylic tube or some kind of polycarbonate?

About how thick is it?

I have to call a plastics company here in town about another project--I'd be happy to see if they carry something like this in stock, and get some rough cost estimates.

Allosaur.....awesome mate. Love your Tube and the paint job on that hugger is outta this world!!!!!! How'd that just out of the egg look happen? Latex draped accross the appendages or what? Sorry for my painting noobishness LOL thanks for the measures too....

Tooth....thanks mte. It would be most appreciated:) Least we'd have a rough idea. Thickness of the tube would be good to have;)

Really need readable versions of those modeller's resource pages the issue .....It's april/may 2000

I called the place today, and the news isn't good. They happen to have some 12" in stock, but even that is usually a special order.

She had prices for 10" diameter and 12" diameter, but would have to research 11". 1/8" wall thickness on both sizes.

12" is $95.00 per foot, 10" is $65.31 per foot, so I would guess 11" would be somewhere around $75-80.

quick question

when you watch the movie
two of the stasis tubes are dumped on the floor (in the scene where Newt and Ripley are locked in medical)

when shown on screen, it appears the 2 dumped over stasis tubes, and they have a bottom in them... (and they have really thin walls) has anyone ever tried to identify those particular containers?

if im not mistaken the stasis tube top and bottom is from a found item. I think its from a soda keg that holds the syrup.
