Episode 9 lightsaber reveal???

It used to be that speculation was fun...

Now speculation is just another form of "outrage culture"... Everyone literally LOOKING for something to be angry about.

When I heard a poster leaked my first thought wasn't "coool... potentially get a look into what's coming..." it was "oh man, what is everyone going to complain about in this image..."
 
Sadly that's the world we live in where people are brainwashed into thinking that they are victims when they aren't and when everything is politicized it's going to make its way into pop culture too. Instead of movies being escapist fun, now they're mired in real world issues.

What drives me insane is that when people disagree they devolve into labeling others with no regard for the fact that it's called civil debate. Criticize ideas all you want but don't slander a person's character because they oppose your point of view.

I hate the new Star Wars. I'm free criticize it if I want just like you are free to love it or to point out the absurdities of fan expectations. Calling someone a "man baby" especially when you are the creator of the content shows a lack of maturity and respect. I take more issue with that than I do with the film's themselves.

I still just can't get past what it must have been like for Kylo repairing the mask. Did he even ask for a new one? Did the quartermaster hand him a bottle of glue and tell him "we're not made of money you know. Next time be more careful with your uniforms!?"

Maybe that's why only one Storm Trooper got armor and the others got worthless PVC that wont even protect against blind guy with a stick. The bad guys have serious credit score problems.
 
Maybe he didn’t tell anyone he broke his mask and was carefully putting it back together with sith glue hoping no one would notice.

Maybe that’s how his saber got all jacked... embarrassing fits he later has to fix when he calms down.

Come to think of it, when Snoke was berating him for his helmet, he should have just pointed at his face scar.

“See this? You know how I got this? NOT WEARING A HELMET!”

I'm thinking he doesn't the Knights of Ren to know that he was "bested by a girl who had never held a lightsaber in her life". So he's hiding the scar.

I like the insecurity of the scar idea joker. Kinda like the shredder in TMNT...

I’d love to know where the knights of Ren have been all this time...
 
Exactly. You'd think they would have fought for the First Order and would have tried to help track down Luke in TFA if it was really that important.

Maybe they were hunting down Leia's allies? And that's why there wasn't a response from them?
 
I heard that a theory that the Knights of Ren we see in TFA after Rey touches the lightsaber could be a flash forward. Also another interesting theory that person killed in that scene was a rogue Knight of Ren.

I like Rey. I really do. She's a likeable character/ actor.

But her character went from nothing, to having all these incredible powers and skills quite literally over night. And that's the problem. There was no growth. They wanted to give the audience instant gratification like rolls of sod for your lawn grown from incredibly environmentally unfriendly sod "farms".

She had a little emotional growth, and that was fine and appropriate. But the powers side was stupid.

Wave of a lightsaber and taaa daaaa, practically a Jedi.

I also disagree with the real world comparison. She was already living an incredibly difficult and LONELY life. But she was thrust into new friendships. There was no you're entering the real world. She Was tragically already in it.
 
That's true, I'd forgotten about the time span of the two films occurring over only a few days. Still it begs the question where they were during the major conflict we witness in the films. Even if they were fighting off resistance allies, those allies must have been pretty important.

The really wasn't a clear threshold for Rey to have crossed (as per the heroes journey ) considering her everyday life was a struggle to survive. That's not a major criticism, just an observation.
