EFX PCR boba helmet

Ahh... The Great Pasadena Death March...

I marched it one time in HS band and that was when my dad decided I needed new shoelaces. They were too short and came untied almost immediately into it. I had to curl my toes to keep my shoes from falling off the whole way. At the end of it the bottoms of my big toes were so badly blistered they were black. Lol!

Yes, seems like an blank canvas to create your own custom interior. Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours.
Here's an idea...

Copying my post from TDH onto here:

Heres some pics of the helmet. Note I am not the best photographer. COA also mentioned everything is finished by hand. Not sure if that means the paint is done by hand, but from the four helmets I unboxed, I noticed slight variances in the paint job along with each helmet having different weathering applied either topically or splattered on.

The helmet also has some problems that I noticed. Because the plastic is held together by clipping to each other, there are stress lines along the plastic throughout the helmet.
All 4 of the helmets I unboxed had a vertical line in from of the helmet in between the turn signals. There is a noticeable horizontal line on the lower left mandible and the back mandibles have lines as well.
And of course, the seam, it is most noticeable in the right ear between the dome and the ear cap,

To those of you who want to fiberglass the inside, be careful, the visor is very fragile and I have some light stress cracks from unscrewing the ears off. Without the ears holding it together the whole helmet is very flimsy and in my opinion might not be worth fiberglassing for fear that you may not be able to maintain the shape unless you plan on fiberglassing over the screws that hold the ears in place.Even with that, the seams underneath the ears will need to be covered along with the seams between the dome as to not allow resin to flow through them.

For what it is, the helmet is beautifully done and I think it was well worth the purchase, considering it does have aluminum ears and working RF lights.

EFX sure love their gaps in between parts. They could have done better joining the separate pieces. And your post is insinuating that it's a cheap flimsy helmets. The gaps don't help the cause either. Look wise it's very well done.

Although Hasbro's helmet will not be as screen accurate it will be a hell of a lot sturdier and better joining of the parts going off their previous helmets. Their helmets are solid.

The metal ears and the visor hold the two halves(front and back) and the mandibles in place together and help keep the plastic from moving about.

I removed these items and can easily spread apart the mandibles and would say it is flimsy, but a very solid helmet when put together.

It is indeed a very beautiful helmet, and with the right care im sure it can withstand the rigors of trooping.

Good to see efx getting product out the door. Really curious to see this side by side with the upcoming black series.

Ok, questions
where are the stress lines, outside or inside. I cant see them unless all the weathering are hiding them.
Are stress lines from the tightness of the build, if so, you think maybe some sanding/trimming/etc.. can loosen the tightness. I'm afraid over time the stress lines will turn to cracks from the parts being held together too tight.
And do you think the seem lines can be tighten from of course, sanding, trimming, etc...
But I think gap seems are not too bad, my only main issues are the stress lines

The seem gaps is not a reason I will not buy helmet
Cause I think helmet looks amazing and since helmets are shipping I want one now
But unfortunately Xmas just passed and I'm out if cash till maybe March, and Bait has sold out
But BBTS has in stock.

Here are some pictures of the stress lines and lines that are created from the plastic forming process. It’s hard to get a picture of them.

I'm excited that EFX has started delivering these and they look great. Alas I want one but won't buy anything that's brand new with stress lines. That's not good.

Ben

Gaps and stress lines? I'll hold out for the Hasbro helmet.
The Hasbro one is less accurate though. No wavy brow, more symmetrical, shorter range finder and the right ear is to thick(to hold the mechanics for the rangefinder) but it will absolutely be a sturdy build for sure. But we haven’t seen the actual paint yet.
Me personally am looking forward to a lighter lid for comfort that’s why I ordered the EFX one.
I have my GMH that will pass for 501st. but having one that was cast from the original gives it some lineage at least. Even with the flaws.
I don’t understand why Hasbro scanned the original helmet only to change sooo much.

I ordered mine way back in April and just checked my Baitme.com order and mine has shipped as well. When I checked the shipping info, it's due in on Thursday!!

Minutefett, your post on the dented helmet about how spot on some of the details are really make me feel better about this. This sounds like some details are improved on that annoyed me about my MR that caused me to sell it off.
I can't wait to get mine.

I kind of feel the same way about EFX. I thought their purpose of having access to the original was to pass on the accuracy to fans willing to pay the price. Once you change stuff imo it just becomes a licensed fan sculpt with lineage. Seams and stress lines aren't a good look.

I really don’t see the point in comparing the EFX helmet to the Hasbro one because the EFX helmet isn’t designed to be worn it’s designed to be displayed. The Hasbro helmet will be stronger and cleaned up because it’s mass-produced for kids and collectors who want a “pretty” helmet for an affordable price. I have ordered the EFX to display and I have pre ordered the black series helmet to play with. I’m not trying to bash hasbro or the black series line. I actually I own a closet full of hasbro black series stuff, most of it 6 inch figures and a couple of lightsabers but they are toys and don’t hold up when compared to high end collectibles.

I'm.aware of the alterations. I'd prefer a sturdier helmet. And I think the brow Gap is hideous. I'm not spending over $300 for a helmet full of gaps. It's is more accurate but that doesn't mean the build quality has to drop.
