EFX Mark IX Science tricorder

Whoa, very cool! Do they sell just the display cases, would love a display like that! Thanks for all the pics man, your tric collection is incredible, juts got my EFX tric, goes great with all my others

Actually I kinda cheated, in that pic one case is MR, one is eFX, and the third is from a MR communicator. I think someone mentioned it earlier in this thread, but the cases are the same size. Buy lots of tricorders bud and you will have lots of stands. LoL.

Well darn, i looked this afternoon and they still had acrylic covers. I went to go order it now and they are gone. I knew i should have ordered it already, i'm a dummy. FYI anyways.....

I've been drooling over these photos for weeks now, wishing I had the money to buy one. Today I logged into another forum that was running a contest where you had to guess the prize based off a set of clues. Come to find out I WON a set containing the tricorder, holster and acrylic cover! I am happy beyond belief! I can't wait to get this in my hands!

That's actually a very cool story. Congrats! You're like Charlie from Willy Wonka.

Run home! Run home as fast as you can!

Awesome! :eek Congrats! :D

Actually, I've heard they will be running another contest. This one's a little different though. It's a fundraiser for autism, so each dollar you donate is an entry. The Efx Tricorder is one of many prizes. I'm not sure the policy on promoting other forums on here, so if you're interested send me a PM and I'll send more details.

I have an issue with the Hinge on my Tricorder (see photos in my original post here) I called EFX customer service and left a message, I sent them an e-mail via their web site and I even sent a message to Bryan here at the RPF...and I have not received a response from anyone.

Has anyone had any experience either positive or negative with EFX customer service? Any thoughts on how to get the issue resolved?

I've had a bit of a lag with their email/phone, but they WILL get back to you, Bryan checks here regularly so he'll be in touch with you for sure, don't worry you'll be taken care of, EFX does the job and does it right.

Does anyone know if there are ANY retailers that still have these? I just might have the money for one this week but I heard entertainment earth was out. Is there anywhere that still has one?

Please email me at bryan@efxcollectibles.com I have not received an email with this issue. But, we have been having trouble with emails being sent through the link on the website.

Thanks!

Bryan

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Bryan for the quick delivery of my Mk IX. I think it was #773.

And its beautiful!:love

Well, I got mine more than a week ago. And apart from the problems with the main screen and button stickers, its very nice. I just want to post this to tell you why the closing rachet sound is not sync-ed. This is because there is only one magnet swtich which is used to both activate and deactivate the Tricorder. The magnet is quite strong but here, I should add is that the reed switch (magnet switch) is very sensitive. So, if you want to know how sensitive it is, use your mobile phone's speakers and lightly sweep over the middle area between the two LED windows at the top (or where the flap closes at the main body). Depending on the polarity of the speaker magnets, you can turn the Tricorder on and/or off. Should there be a second magnet switch, then the closing racthet sound would be more accurate. But this might cramp up the space inside.

Anyway, there is a small detail where after two minutes of 'scanning' the Tricorder goes into standby mode and I don't mean the stopping of the sound and lights. The circuit is still 'live' because once you close the flap, the rachet sound WILL be played. In Trek World, this is a normal feature since the rachet sound is the actual mechanical sound of the Tricorder flap closing/opening). But in our World, it is sucking up batteries. I suspect the magnet switch is not used to 'OFF' the Tricorder. I have put the batteries in for a week and they're still OK, with normal 'playing'. Maybe I should open the flap for a week and see.........

I'm debating buying one of these Tricorders.
I have two questions.

1. Is it possible to get in between the electronics and the body so I can add some additional diffusion sheet, I'll likely use some thin mylar or styrene paper thin to give some extra diffusion to the LEDs.

2. How long does the light and sound cycle run for once open?

Thanks
