Limited Run Droid Caller - Precision Machined Kit

Ok, got it assembled except I just can't seem to figure out the timer button. :confused The are no threads in the nut for the small screw with the gap in the middle to go in, the pics shows how far it fits.
Here's a pic, what am I doing wrong? Also, i expected a set screw to fit in the side to hold it in place that there wasn't one. :confused

Don't worry, you are not the first to be confused: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=225965&page=9&p=3567420&viewfull=1#post3567420

The set screw was pre-installed, I can see it in your picture,
it is short so you have to unscrew it just a little bit and put in the spring, and put in the button with the flat facing the set screw,
then turn the set screw in to touch the flat and loosen very slightly, then screw the assembly in to the head,
if the set screw is in the way of the thread in the head you might have to take it out and file it a little shorter,
you can also use a dot of glue on the set screw to hold the adjustment.

Thank you all. :thumbsup I didn't even see the set screw until looked back at the photo again. :facepalm

Great Droid callers here.

Can't wait. The package is waiting for customs clearance :wacko I think I'll have to pay them something extra to get mine.

Finally I got the time and the right weather conditions to finish mine. As I mentioned earlier, I went idealized (no logo). The textured paint baked in the oven turned out awesome.

That really looks great! My texture paint arrived today and I'll get working on it shortly. Reading the instructions on the spray paint can, they are a little unclear. Did you let the paint dry for 2 hours or 24 hours before baking at 200 degrees?

The stuff I have (same as Scottjua posted a few days ago) says to:
paint coat with vertical motion
wait 5 minutes
paint coat with horizontal motion
wait 5 minutes
paint coat with diagonal motion
In oven for one hour at 200 degrees F.

Loving wrinkle paint. Might redo my sterling e11 now

I was thinking about that too. If you do it, be sure to share.

I'm just not that patient. I did one decent coat and baked it nearly straight away. I did it in the sun with uniform light strokes, but it was done in two minutes. Then baked it and voila.

I was too scared to stray from the instructions. I often think I know an easier and/or better way and it usually results in time consuming efforts to restore the item only to end up doing it the way I was suppose to. It's why DIY projects scare me... I'm the weakest link.

For paint never fear... I have a big ol can of stripper and acetone if I screw up paint... then I just soak, clean and repeat if necessary.

Ok. This may be a silly question, but I've never cured paint by baking. Did you guys just use your regular oven? No problems with fumes or anything? Just don't want to throw this in the oven and then find out that I ruined it for baking food.

I'd put the part on tin foil on a baking sheet and open a window but you won't hurt anything from doing a small part.

Thanks everyone for the insight on the wrinkle paint. I've never used it before and you've answered all of my questions before I begin the process.

Very nice MJF. What brand of paint did you use and what is the name/color?

thanks.
