I just finished up making a droid caller out of a Leitz Wetzlar camera flash unit that’s similar to the Kobold’s used on screen.
Modifications include a brass thumb screw to the top, a large but and some random pressure washer or something on the top to fill the hollow and give it some visual interest. On the flash body I added a small red automotive LED and a momentary on/off push button. On the bottom I added a small on/off slide switch.
On the inside it was a 9V battery made out of 3 stacked CR2032 batteries, a small 555 timer that causes the LED to flash and a small buzzer that’s activated by the push button. I think it turned out pretty awesome!
