Limited Run Droid Caller - Precision Machined Kit

Got mine in, did a quick dry fit, and I gotta say....."This thing is AMAZING!!!!" Seriously, this is probably the nicest kit I've ever bought. HUGE kudos to dmachinist, you knocked this out of the ballpark!!!

Got mine yesterday. As others have said it is a great kit.
However I can't get the timer button to assemble.

What is not working? were you able to put the spring and button in the nut and adjust the set screw?
If the timer nut does not go in to the head it might be sticking too far out, so you need to remove it and file some off to make it shorter.

Awesome work Scott!

Thanks! applying the red dot now... well paint applied, now it's baking.

I'm not sure how pretty I can make the logo though... dang...

I'm thinking he had the same issue I was confused on. From a PM...

I did some test fits and ran into a couple assembly issues.

Timer Button: The set screw just will not go into the nut (even without the spring). It seems too big or possibly something wrong with the threading of the screw keeping it from starting.

On the timer button, the set screw was pre installed, you just have to loosen and tighten it, if the assembly doesn't go into the head because the set screw is too far out you might have to file it a little shorter.

So basically the set screw on the side of the nut and needs to be backed out using a small allen wrench or else the spring and post cannot be inserted. I did not see anything about the set screw in the instructions and even though I saw the hole on the side, I failed to notice that there was indeed a set screw.

That was the problem. The set screw on the side of the nut. Thanks guys!

Spill your secrets Scottjua. :)

How about a local engraving company? An easy job to do a CNC cylindrical engraving with a vector file of the logo. That's how I plan to do it: first paint, then engrave. Just like the real Kobold.
And I'm also curious about that wrinkle paint!

Sorry guys, busy evening.

This is the wrinkle paint I used.

Worked super well, and was very easy to do. Just follow the instructions pretty much. I always bake my paints, as I suck at having real patience. It actually says you can bake it to cure it too on the can, so I did my normal procedure and voila. Turned out fantastic.

I have a superb resin casting of an accurate Kobold and the wrinkle finish matches perfectly.

Now about that engraving....

Dave... care to offer a service??????????

Just finished mine aside from the logo... MAN... this thing is NICE!

Dave, I have to commend you on a stellar bit of kit! The machining is so pretty and everything goes together so easily and nicely.

The end result is just gorgeous, and makes me want to get a real one just so I don't have to weather and beat this one up. Lol... this is too pretty to mess up.

So... now about those sync pin holes... anyone have an idea on whether theres some found tubing that would complete the look? Instead of drilled chamfered holes... a little aluminum or steel sleeve that's accurate size like the real deal???

scottjua, thanks for the paint info. I picked up that brand at my local Auto Zone. It's been a little cool here in Florida so I am waiting for a better day before I start painting.

That is also a good tip about using the countersink bit.

I'm gonna put my 2 cents in here as well. I received this kit a few days ago and I have to echo everyone's sentiments - this is one of the most detailed and amazing kits I have every seen!!!!! I just finished test fitting mine and hope to have it all painted and finished by next week. All hail DEC (and of course, Scottjua for making us all look like amateurs lol)

Dave got to say these look unbelievably good, you are a genius. Did you happen to do the disc on the bottom as an extra?
