Droid Caller - Super Accurate, Precision Machined Kit

IN PRODUCTION !!!

I am gauging interest for a Droid Caller run, I am told this is very close to the ANH version,

Kit Form: painting/assembly required

Originally I was only going to run 50, but I think I will offer 100 kits based on preliminary feedback,
This will be a functioning item, working quick release mechanism, thumb screw, timer button, brass contact pin, etc.,
The inside will be large enough to allow for electronics upgrades later on, easy skill level,
The head, body, end caps, and t-slot will be aluminum,
It looks like the original unit had chrome plated brass hardware but chrome plating is not an option for this run,
The hardware has been upgraded to stainless steel!!!
You will have to paint the bottom of the head black gloss, the body flat black wrinkle paint, and a red dot over the timer,
I do not think I will engrave the logo, any copyright issues maybe?

Pre-Sale - $175 + Shipping
A pre-sale has started, each kit will have a maker's mark and serial number under the base screw,

There is no list, make sure to pre-order early to get a low serial number!

Production will take approximately 2 months from start time

Count me in!

This is really shaping up nicely, I can't wait to get mine! I do have a question. Can you confirm the diameter where the C clip attaches and keeps the Caller on Han's blaster belt? I'm looking to upgrade the woefully inadequate clip on my Todd's belt(no way I trust it with this). I think I have found a suitable one, but want to make sure it is the correct size. Thanks!

The body diameter that goes in the clip is 1.590 inches or 40.39 mm

Maybe 1-5/8 inches (1.625) / 41.28 mm diameter after the wrinkle paint/mask, still haven't decided yet

Thanks, this is very helpful! The clip I'm looking at is 40 mm so I think this will fit nice and snug. The clip itself should have enough flex it it to accommodate an extra millimeter or two.

Started the bodies yesterday,
cut up blanks:

turned and threaded, you can see the inside is wide open if you want to put electronics in:

Also, I have to get both my hips replaced, it might happen in two weeks,
everything happened kind of fast but I have to get it while the getting is good,
I will be working up until the day before, I should have the bodies and the t-slots done before I go in,
so production will have to be paused for a few weeks while I recoup, sorry about that guys but I think the wait will be worth it :cheers

dmachinist,

My dad had two knees and a hip replaced. Your health/mobility is way, way more important that a project run. We all know you will get back to it when you can. Best of luck and get well. BTW, the hip sugery sounds more invasive, but my dad recovered much quicker from the hip surgery than from the knee surgeries.

My order should come end this week, sorry for the delay.

Please keep one kit warm for me ;).

Thanks! It's funny because I know a lot of people who recently had hip replacement, my sister just had her second one,
I'm only 50 so I will have to try to make them last LOL, I have made a number of medical parts, bone screws, plates and linkages,

Also I have a Replicator1 3D printer and I am making battery inserts to hold a standard 9v battery, included in all kits!
I will post a pic later or tomorrow.
