Limited Run Droid Caller - Precision Machined Kit

Don't want to laugh at others misfortune but... he...he...

kidding aside, i had a dog that liked to chew things once.....once.

im sure Dave will have an extra set available for this story. Good luck with the pup.

My brother used to date a girl with two Mastiff dogs, at 8 months old the male would be staring me in the eyes when he was standing and I was holding his paws,
there is another set of MGC grips left on the web site,

The material should be in by next Wednesday or so, I have material for the Quick Release Ring in stock so I will start that Monday and post pics as I go.

Orders have been slowing down :(, come on guys this is going to be an awesome kit! :cheers get those orders in !!!

Production has started, here is the quick release ring, after I blank them out I will do the knurl and cross holes,

The timing of this is TERRIBLE! Ha.

I'm still likely going to order... but why?!? WHY this brilliance so close to Christmas?!?!

Looking forward to seeing progress...

What is the real advantage of having the Precision Made kit over the real Kobold Flash? I know the real Kobolds are pretty hard to come by, and at least right now the kits are available for less than the Kobolds I see selling on Ebay, so that is a plus. Will it be easier to add electronics to it vs the real one?

It sounds like it will be pretty slick.

For those that have real Kobold Flashes, what is your motivation for getting the kit as well. Not being negative, just wondering.

I think it is extremely cool that they are being made.

Sorry if I missed it if it has already been discussed...but does anyone know where I (we) might obtain a buzzer with a similar droid caller sound as heard in ANH?

All the buzzers I have been able to find are basically piezo buzzers that are more of a 'beep' than a 'buzz' sound :(

I would be interested in a camera mount screw, too. The old ones I have are either too small or too big.

As for me, the Kobold I have is not the right model and unless I come across one in an antique store I don't think I will ever get the correct model. The prices for them on Ebay have gone crazy. The last silver model with red lettering I saw (which usually goes for less) went for around $400. The last correct Kobold I saw on Ebay for Han Solo ANH went for even more. Aside from that, even if I do score a real, correct model Kobold some day, I would not want to troop around with it.

Like you said the originals are very hard to come by and they are expensive,
You will be hard pressed to tell the difference between this kit and the original,
I think you guys will be happy with this, I know it's hard to see it right now but I will post pics as I go along,

The whole inside will be empty, so adding electronics should not be a problem, you will be able to fit a 9 volt battery inside with room to spare,

I picked up a silver Kobold on the very cheap side. My Google Foo was good that day. I am really looking forward to seeing your progress. Based on other stuff you have done in the past, these will be awesome I am sure.

UPGRADE!!! :cheers

The hardware parts that I was going to make out of regular steel will now be made from Stainless Steel!
This way I can be sure there won't be any rust over time, and it should be a little shinier,
The only part that will be regular steel is the head insert that the quick disconnect goes on,
I don't think rust will be a problem there because it is not handled,
