Limited Run Droid Caller - Precision Machined Kit

Yeah, I definitely want to echo what the guys here are saying, dm... THANK YOU so much for doing such an amazing job with these! :)

I'm really excited; this is actually the FIRST Project Run I've ever been on board for and I'm just really hoping I'll do a good job with completing mine (not gonna lie, though: I'm really feeling pretty nervous about it, too... Hope I don't screw it up! LOL)

Anyway, thanks again, man... I'm really impressed with how you got all this taken care of... Especially given the health issue you needed to look after, too :)
Cheers!

This is awesome. Thank you so much for the amazing work you've done on this run. Your last post is a great example of how much you care. I really appreciate your frequent updates and your dedication. I'm very excited to start working on this! I hope your recovery is going smoothly!

Thanks, I appreciate it. Recovery is going very well, back to work full time.

On another note, I messed up the pick up for Friday so I had to go with Saturday. :facepalm
I see you guys got the shipping notices already.

Mine came! Dave, any chance on a stencil for the Kobold Logo? I'm thinking I want to wrinkle paint mine....

Wanted to revisit this post too... How did you envision this working?

My first priority was to make this look as close to the original as possible,
I thought I might be able to find a button like the original but wasn't sure,
After exhaustive research I could not find anything so I said I would make something that looks like the original to glue in,
I wasn't comfortable with that so I made it moveable like the other parts,
Someone was talking about putting electronics in so maybe a micro switch can be put inside and be activated by the flash button.

My kit arrived today also and it is amazing! Thanks again! Dry fit nicely. And I ordered some stuff from Adafruit, gonna try my hand at the electronics.

You can use the vinyl wrap as a stencil, just let the wrinkle paint dry for a few days before trying it.

I must seem silly but I want to wrap my head around it: So wrinkle paint... then apply the vinyl...remove connecting pieces and paint?

Can you think of a way to etch in the logo using the stencil? The original is embossed or etched in isn't it? Painted, or bare metal?

On the original units the wrinkle paint was applied then they machined the logo just deep enough to get through the paint.
I was thinking that after you paint you can pit the wrap on it lightly and scrape or etch where the logo is then remove the vinyl wrap,
does that seem like it would work? I have the DXF file if anyone wants to try it another way.
