DRIVE (2011) Scorpion Satin Jacket

And heres just me thinking aloud about the scorpion-seam issue:

Maybe, after some good wear, the wrinkling of the fabric will "indent" and crease the scorpion ebroidery naturally along the seam lines, giving the impression that it is actually stitched within instead of on top.

I dont know if this is possible, just thinking aloud...

That's a gross overestimation of the average license-holder's competency and attention to detail.

I very much disagree, at least in this case. Just based on the work Steady has done, and the fact that they have a jacket from the movie as a reference, to me shows they have an attention to detail. It's not like we're talking getting the scorpion EXACT, from every detail in the stitching. I'm simply saying that they will at least get the gold colouring right.

Perhaps I'm wrong. But to each their own.

But as ReturningSon said, these are simply assembly line pictures. To try and get information from these unfinished products is a bit silly, in my opinion at least. I still believe the final product will look very close to how it's advertised on the site, but maybe that's just wishful thinking?

hey guys i'm new here.

i asked lauren from steady c wich of the 2 fabrics they where gonna use for the jacket...because they look kinda different. and she said that they're the same. it looks different because of the lighting...in fact they are gonna use the exact same color as the jacket from the movie.

As I mentioned before, we were able to inspect an original Drive jacket and the one we measured had a chest measurement of about 40" around. That's about what I figured for a slim fit jacket. Of course the armpit gussets allow for more freedom of movement, but it is certainly not a baggy jacket in any way.

I'm really surprised all you guys were expecting 100% screen accuracy in a licensed jacket at all, much less one that's like $150. As long as it looks like the jacket enough to be recognizable I'm happy.

Yeah, but make sure the sleeves won't end up being too short. You'd be better off getting the right sleeve length, then having any extra chest width taken in by a local seamstress or tailor.

thanks, I wasn't sure a tailor could remove 2 or 3 chest size inches

ok so I checked the size chart again on the steady website and they just changed it back to a 43" for the XS. they are absolutely ridiculous. how many times are they going to change the measurements?

Ok, to help some peeps out, i took measurements of a satin souvenir jacket I have. No, keep in mind that my jacket is not quilted and therefore substantially lighter in terms of weight than the screen jacket.

so, the jacket I have is has correlating measurements of both the Xsmall and the Small. I would lean more towards small. I know, this isnt as accruate as a final product but I think my jacket is really close in terms of fit...Anyway, just thought I would throw this out there for people to see.

And, BTW Carey Muligan is 5'7. So, i just find it kinda hard to believe Gosling is only 5'9...

are you going to get the embroidery done?

No, it's just a $5 goodwill find so I don't think it deserves embroidery... I don't know what I'm gonna do, maybe attempt to outline a scorpion and then color it in.

any idea where i can get a similar jacket? i think you got really lucky stumbling upon your jacket at goodwill. i saw someone post a jacket from american apparel, but i browsed around there the other day and didn't see anything.

I agree. Mine is indeed an 80s "members only" style with button epulets and a tab collar. After cutting all that off, it is a strikingly similar piece to the screen used jacket save for the fact mine is not quilted...
