Dredd 2012 Badge Build (aka Popping my 3D Print cherry)

Nah, made the models myself in google sketchup, I'm too poor to afford proper 3d software but sketchup is free and seems nice and easy to use.

I imported a load of images of the badge and basically traced the edges then tidied the model up to be symetrical. Also with my ones I wanted to be able to put any name on them so made the model with a recessed area in the front and a separate model for the nameplate so I can just glue in the insert with whatever name wanted each time.

This week I'll be ordering a print for a Judge Lex nameplate and a whole new badge blank and nameplate to replicate the Judge Anderson badge in the movie (naturally they had to align her name at a completely different angle to everyone else's, gah!!)

Will put pictures up soon as there's any progress.

Hey there thanks man this isn't really an update just an in progress pic of the next batch of badges for anyone interested to see. Now if only I'd remembered to buy more brass powder so I could do more than four. Hmm

Hopefully have some real updates in about three weeks with custom badges, 1/6 scale badges and the justice department logo on order with shape ways

Oh yes indeedy. Plus side - loads of new information. Downside - the plans I spent hours drawing by hand from stills out of the trailers and publicity shots as reference have now been proven mostly wrong so need to be redone.

Still I'd rather spend a bit longer getting it close as possible than rushing through it. Planning to start some proper building this weekend if possible

The precise dimensions I've used (this is just a guess based on the publicity stills, using measurements of nose to chin compared to mine lol)

90mm x 120mm x 8mm

like I say I have no idea how accurate it is but it seems to be a good size

its all in the thread he also said he modeled the names separately by tracing promo images
