So for my first real self made cosplay outside of a vault suit I’ve decided to do a Rocketeer. Helmet and rocket pack are going to be printed, have spent the last week and a bit printing parts for the rocket on an off.

The jacket is going to be the South Beach Leather one and I’m racking my brain trying to figure out how the hell im gonna mount the rocket, any harness recommendations?

Or any advice on painting one of these?

I very much unederestimated the amount of parts this thing would be. Still got 3 build plates to go. Thankfully the Drokle files on thingiverse are made well

I think Valor used a drum harness (bass drum if I'm not mistaken). That was a metal harness that he covered with the leather one seen in the movie.
You could PM him to have more info;)
Oh yeah, that’s a cool idea. I was actually thinking just a construction harness covered in faux leather, maybe just drill into it and bolt the thing on? Or a tonne of heavy duty Velcro hahaha

Thanks man, yeh I’ve been searching. It’s frustrating though nobody is explaining how the harness works

I think the harness was mostly concealed by the jacket.

Consider leather guitar straps, adjustable, and some widen over stress points. The wider the strap over your shpulders, the more friction and the less it will want to roll.

I made a comic Rocketeer build and I put the rocket on a block of wood covered with fake leather. I then used leather straps to carry it like a backpack. You will have to play with it to get it to sit right. The rocket will want to roll down your back to its lowest point.

A 3D printed build I would try to have something inside the rocket to give it strength. Wood or aluminum, maybe poured or aculpted expoxy . You need atleast 2 points of contact from rocket to harness, four is more stable.

It will bump into things, doorways, walls, you dont want it to accidentally crack it. Dont just sand and paint.

Also, some safe way to put it down when you need a break.

Since you printed in black, coat with black pigment in XTC 3D, then sand it down super smooth and spray it with a chrome spray pantt to get that metal, slightly reflective look.

I’m not worried about the strength. im at about 20% infill and enough walls, plus I was going to go over everything with resin to give it an extra layer and help with the smoothing process. But Guitar straps are a great idea
