Dr. Doom WIP

Dooooom! I'm starting a Dr. Doom build for Fan X Fall. It'll be a mix of Ironman type armor and Dr. Strange accessories (The infamous Iroman plus Doom: Sorcerer Supreme). Sort of how I see Doom existing in the MCU. The armor is gonna be mostly Eva foam with some 3D printed parts. The cape and hood will be fabric and EVA mixed with a few other things. The cape will be based on eastern European, native American Shaman type cloaks.



So far:



The helmet. It was a 3D printed General Kyltus from Flash Gordon that I then covered in Eva foam, plastidipped, and test painted in Rustoleum's Hammered Dark Bronze. (those are glow specs I'm just testing, not the finished effect for the eyes).



The torso. Started with an Evil Ted basic male chest template and just free-handed all the details in Eva foam and some 3d puffy craft stickers for the filigree. Still unpainted.




Hands. The palms are 3d printed Ironman palms and the fingers I made from Eva foam, freehand. Also test painted in the same Hammered Dark Bronze.



Arms. Started with Evil Ted's basic male arm armor template and did the same freehanded details in Eva foam. The piston is 3/4 inch and 1/2 inch plastic pipe. The metal effect is just aluminum tape. More craft stickers for the filigree.

Progress so far: Got the arms base painted. Got some work on the belt done. I'm basing it on Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange belt. The ring is 3D printed, the belts themselves are thrift store finds and the leather base belt is EVA foam. Also tested the Arc Reactor in the chest, it's a pocket plasma disc with a piece of clear-frosted Mylar to diffuse the light. The Eye of Agamotto cover piece is 3D printed.

Just about got the armor part done, got to start working on the cape/hood and tunic. The fabric on the torso is just a test.

I’m obsessed with those boots! Just gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing this guy in suit-up.

Dr. Doom belt all finished. The fabric is an upholstery remnant and the ring is 3D printed. The coins and chains are doodads from my gigantic doodad collection.



Then I got the Hip armor finished, sealed and ready to paint.





Then I tested the eye lights, still haven't made my mind up about those.

This is awesome! How did you do those hands/gauntlets? Any chance you purchased those?

Thanks! The hands are 3D printed Ironman palms with Eva foam fingers I free handed on card stock first then used those for templates. The arms are from Evil Ted's armor templates and I free handed all the details.

Got the chestplate finished and attached and was able to test the Arc Reactor of Agamotto in it. So far so good.
