Doctor Who NEW Sonic Screwdriver

Wow you guys a cynical...easier to make a toy, blah blah blah...

I seriously doubt that was ANY motivation, any more than the last one was. Yes toys sell...but since when do prop makers care really? Its a cool prop, not my favourite version...but dial down the cynicism.

Next thing I will see is "Moffatt raped my childhood!"

The TARDIS is not bad either...its the same as Tennants just with added details to sate some of the whiny fans in the first place...and now new whiney ones....

I think it's totally possible that the production company specified to the prop makers that they'd like to be able to make a toy out of it. And anyways, you have a TARDIS, are you going to paint it's window frames white?

you could have saved yourself some typing by just saying, "Well this the RPF alright"

Not at all, I'm open minded and love Moffatt (in a writers sense). I just wondered with the specific marketing wording regarding the latest MFX release, will that mean that they are going to produce the new one as part of their less expensive range. It would seem bad business to produce the old Tennant version en masse at the same time a new version is leaked into the world.

Not sure about this sonic yet. Looks a bit too generic and more style than function.

But the Police Box TARDIS exterior has been wound back to its original look, which is a great idea I think. Much better than the Pertwee version for instance, or if you want to see a really shoddy TARDIS, check out some of the latter McCoy episodes. At one point, they were using a painted canvas sheet coupled with poor lighting for the interior...

LOL! Yeah I guess I could have!

Just we go from the screwdriver, to the sparkplug to a bike handle...one thing about Doctor Who is its varience of props...I mean the Sonic has changed what 8-9 times in its history? More than the TARDIS has...\

I think its a given a new toy would be made, regardless of scale, size and style. The toy makers will just be happy to have a version out that people will buy. The last ones size and look did not stop them afterall! I do not think it would have been in the design to make it easier for toy manufacturing....my big question is whether it extends!

I bet there is more detail to the sonic we just cannot see anyway, its zoomed and the highlights are blown a bit anyway :)

Risu, not sure how I feel about the frames yet...but I was working on the newer version of Tennants TARDIS anyway (which has changed quite a bit since the first series)...and I like several features of the new box...lamp and windows in general...no big lights this time. So we'll see ;)

The new one is merged with the last one and the orginal, so fun details all around.

As for MFX...I am sure since the spring version will never be in the show now and the new design was coming, the only way we'd get a Tennant screwdriver was to do it this way, with slider and limited. The quantities probably reflect the fact that most will lose interest as the new Series rolls around.

Crap. I was fooled by the title of the thread. I thought we were still talking about the new sonic screwdriver discovery alluded to in a previous thread, as in the discovery of a matching model of chropractic adjuster..

I didn't really want to see a picture of the new doctor! :( I like to be surprised. It may have been nice to post a spoiler warning if you're talking about props in shows that haven't premiered yet.

Perhaps, but I think there has already been a huge media saturation of images and spoilers about this new Doctor, at least in the Commonwealth. The new costume was front (web)page news in Melbourne this morning.

Well, this is the first I saw of it, thus my dismay. I'm pretty good at avoiding spoilers, unless I'm taken by surprise, such as this thread.

I figured people around these parts would be sensitive to such things, so I wasn't on guard for it.

its definetly quite large...

Thats what she said!

Well this explains why MFX is only doing 500 of the new series Sonic..because its already the old sonic and everyone is going to be wanting this new version.
