I dunno. I think I mentioned this before but these behind-the-scenes photos are always quite misleading until you see them on screen with all the cinematic flare we're used to. I think this sonic though looks a bit too over produced to me and too overly thought out. I think I would actually have been happier to see the one from Silence in the Library but it may turn out that this one is really good and much less complicated than the last one.

I will add though that the changes while not inherently bad seem to be happening for the sake of change rather than to move forward. I mean, the Tardis may be all nice and new but it lacks that travel worn look of the ones that came before it. It looks like plastic molded to look like wood and color molded in blue. I dunno. Great story telling and writing always make up for the short comings of any series. I mean, look at the classic show. Shoe-string budget, epic fail special effects and still some of the best writing you'll ever get. This may be a lot like the old days XD

So--and this theory has been said already in this thread--new Sonic, revamps the old one and gives it to River Song. Ok, super.

Except Matt Smith is 26 and Alex Kingston (River Song) is 46. Yea the Doctor is 900~, but still...that's weird. I just can't see proper chemistry between them for the River Song story arc to flesh out.

BUT- on the topic at hand, the new SS. I like it. It's different, but so is the Doctor. I'm sure it'll work.

The funniest thing would be if this turned out to not be the Sonic Screwdriver. Perhaps he got his laser spanner back! :lol
