After rewatching the 2013 Christmas Special this past Christmas I thought that Handles was such a fun prop, I wanted to make one. But I wanted it done in time for a convention in mid-February, so I had just over a month to complete it in my spare time.
I had to make some concessions for time, and if I'd had more time I would have refined my model further for better accuracy and then sculpted the damage before printing, but I'm still fairly content with how it turned out.

It was ready in time for the convention and I even managed to get it signed by Steven Moffat (the showrunner/writer) and Jenna Coleman (actress in the episode)!

And here's a peek behind the curtain.

As I mentioned, if I'd had more time, there were things I would have wanted to tweak before proceeding regarding accuracy and proportions. I had also wanted to 3D sculpt the damage before printing, also for accuracy. But I was simply running out of time and needed to start printing, so I printed the "clean" parts and winged it by hand with a heat gun and a soldering iron.

The electronics were actually kind of a last minute decision as well. Originally I hadn't planned on including them, but as the project moved along, I couldn't resist! So I modeled a battery compartment for the inside and tweaked my plans to accommodate.

Below are some progress pics from throughout the process. (I'm not planning on making more or distributing files at this time but I'll post if that changes)
