Limited Run Doctor Who 8th Doctor Alternative Sonic Screwriver 3d Printed Model Kits 2.0!!!

Theres an insert image box next to the video icon on the left (next to the one that looks like a piece of film). You can upload through that when replying a comment.

It says 'you may not have permission to do this'.

It may have something to do with the number of posts you have. I know there are limitations to what you can do on the RPF before reaching a certain amount.

An alternative to directly uploading images through the forum interface, you can upload your photos to a hosting site like Flickr or imgur and paste the url into the code below (where the text IMAGE should be replaced with the url for the large version and IMAGE_TH should be replaced with the url for the smaller one):

HI Doc,

Mine arrived yesterday it was there waiting for me when I arrived home from work :), so I only had a chance to briefly look at it but as ever it's a great piece the fit of the pieces & the detail are amazing.

You excelled yourself again with this amazing piece thanks, Doc :thumbsup

I NEED one of these to complete my Dark Eyes cosplay, so please consider doing another run someday soon!

Glad to hear the kits are arriving safely and you guys like them! When you have a chance to look over and confirm everything is good to go please pop on to drop some feedback on my public profile! Thanks!

The rest should be getting packed up and sent out next week sometime. I think I found a solution for the drill press issues.

Got mine today Doc. Tis a thing of beauty, sooo glad I got in on this. Hopefully all the trouble with shapeways was worth it for you in the end, because it certainly was for me. Great work dude!

Hey guys, sorry about the silence. I don't really have an good excuse for the delay - the drill press issue is fixed but I've been having trouble getting them right. It would be easy if the wood was exactly the same width as the 3d printed grips so I could just stack them on top of each other and line the bit up with the 3d printed holes and get them perfect, but the wood is a bit wider so getting the holes exactly centered between the sides and the right distance apart so they fit onto the body has been much more difficult than I anticipated. That first set took awhile to finish and they don't all line up straight with each other or the body - maybe I'm being a perfectionist but I think I over extended myself by taking these on - I'm not that great at wood working (hence why I design everything on the computer and have machines print them to near precision). Long story short, I used up most of my remaining wood supply trying on muck-ups and none of the nearby craft stores have any of the right 'gauge' in stock anymore. I've asked Michael's to order more but I'll keep searching elsewhere to get more or have to resort to buying wider sizes and taking them to the table saw to get them to be the right width - which will result in even more inconsistencies between grip pieces.

I really am sorry for the wait, it's already been well longer than it should have due to the combination of printing issues, drill press issues, etc. I figure you would all rather have better quality pieces than for me to send out sub-par pieces that don't fit right with the rest of the kit. I'll do everything I can to get my hands on some more supplies and am thinking about asking a friend with more experience than me to help me drill the holes right.

Hi.

Just wondered if you'd had any luck yet?

Regards, Steve

Yes! I managed to get one set cut and drilled nicely which means I have a good template for the rest - I just need to track down more wood so I have enough for all of the kits. I should be sending some out in the coming weeks, if not all of them - it depends on how quickly I can track down more supplies.

Okay, I have 6 more sets of grips done, I'm going to venture out today to acquire more materials for the remaining 7. Hoping to have them done so I can send out the rest of the kits before July 9th when I go on vacation. If nothing else, I'll be sending out what I can and do the rest when I come back on the 20th. If anyone has a pressing need for their kit before then, let me know and I'll prioritize!

Thanks for the update.

Nooooo!!!!! Uhg come on dcoc, you mean I missed out on the first and second run of these, aww man. Still it's super cool to see what you've done with the "build your own"cores. Totally in for a kit with a core if you ever think of doing another batch:)

Thanks for the update.

Depending on when these are sent out I may need to change my delivery address owing to family holdays. - Steve

Do you happen to know the dates? If you want to DM me or send an email with that info I'll mark it down so when I do send them out I can plan accordingly.
