Limited Run Doctor Who 8th Doctor Alternative Sonic Screwriver 3d Printed Model Kits 2.0!!!

Please keep me posted on that, Doc, and that's exceedingly generous of you!

Wanted to ask a quick question (or two): where did you order the sonic cores from (Character Options or Underground Toys), and how much did they charge per unit? I snagged a couple of 9th Doctor dummies (gutted) and would love to get then operational again.

Thanks for everything you've done, a wonderful holiday to your family from ours, and I hope things take an upturn soon.

I ended up getting in touch with a woman at CO via their website - UT was unresponsive. In the end, after shipping and what not they ran me about $10USD each.

Happy to report that my kit arrived yesterday! Thanks Doc! Looking forward to putting it all together over the holidays.

Cheers,
Osric

There are plans in the works. Once I finish up with the 12th's sonic, I'm going to revisit the model for the Dark Eyes sonic so that it can be publicly printable.

Will the publicly printable version still use the build your own sonic core? Also, will the console style base be available as well?

Yeah, they'll be pretty much the same exact models as the ones for the run so they'll be compatible with the BYOS core, as well as the core from the Trans-Temporal sonic - I designed it to work with either. The only difference will be the loops and sprues I used connect the parts - they need to be stronger to survive printing.

What you'll need to get a hold of to complete it is a small length of 5mm (3/16") acrylic rod to properly illuminate the emitter and some wood to make the grips if you don't want 3d printed ones (I provide a template with measurements in the PDF guide I'll post along with the link once they're available). I'll have two versions available - one with grips, one without.

I'll also make two files for the emitter, one file will have a single emitter and the other will have two in one since it seems most people wanted two so they could experiment on the one with various finished before working on the one for their final look - printing two at once will knock a bit off the price for each.

The bases will also be available - as with the sonic, I need to make some edits to the sprues.

I'll also put together a how-to as far as separating the parts from their loops/sprues once you receive the parts from Shapeways.

Hey everyone, to those who have been chiming in to show interest in another run, I am planning to offer them again at some point. Once the end of year work rush is over I will try to get to it!
Awesome!! Seeing as mine got tossed by my daughter, I especially can't wait to get replacements!!

Yeah, sorry again I was unable to locate those extra parts for you! I'll probably separate the kit I upload to Shapeways by the main portion, the grips, and the emitter bulb each in their own listing so people can build their own kits accordingly.

That would be most awesome, Doc. Thanks!

Just found this thread (haven't been on very much) and I am amazed by how well built and detailed this screwdriver is. The "Dark Eyes" variant is my second favorite sonic used by my favorite Doctor. I am would be very interested in another run of these at some point.

Wondering if Doctor Octoroc is around still, planning another run or accepts custom individual orders? Newer Doc Who fan and really would love one of his 8th Doc Sonic Screwdrivers
