Disney buying Lucasfilm (new Star Wars movies on tap)

Well if they can hire new actors to carry on with ST-TOS I am sure it won't be difficult to find new actors to portray the same characters in SW - Episodes 7, 8, and 9.

Now Anthony Daniels will fullfil his dream of appearing in all nine films.

Lord of the Rings trilogy?

Those weren't cranked out in that short a period of time. They were release one a year, true, but the were all shot at the same time and the story was worked on a LONG time before shooting, etc.

With E7, they've got to take a treatment, and since it's hollywood, alter it 72 times, get a finished script, cast it, sign the cast to multi film deals, secure shooting locations, shoot it, build props, models in reality and CG, and then spend nearly a year doing all the effects.

There were 3 years between prequels and they used every bit of that time. They've got less time now to do the first one which has to have story elements for the next 2 in it. They'll need a lot more than a treatment to turn out a good product by may 2015.

But can you imagine if the new trilogy were shot with the same mindset of Lord of the Rings? Shoot as much pratical as possible? That is one of the biggest reasons I would rate the LOTR trilogy over the PT any day.

With the direction Lucas has been going, I believe they have an incredible potential here. But I worry the top brass may be over extending themselves, particularly Lassiter.
No doubt Disney has the talent to really make the Star Wars universe shine, but they will need to carefully manage the franchise as well integrate a very different style of management from Lucas to the current mentality at Disney. It will be interesting to see how this transfers over and how it integrates to Disney.

EXACTLY!

I think some of you are overreacting about this affecting the prop community. There are more Iron Man helmets now than there ever was before Disney owned Marvel.

Disney knows how large the fanbase is, I doubt the first thing they'll do is come on here and start smacking people around.
