DH Studios Obi TPM (formerly Obi AOTC MR question)

Hi everyone,

I recently acquired a MR LE AOTC Obi-Wan Lightsaber.

It looks awesome, but the red activation button is crappy.

The red paint is chipping everywhere, and it looks bad.

Upon further inspection, it happens that this red button can be unscrewed and thus replaced.

My problem : Where to find a threaded screen accurate red button ? Is the threading on the MR button standard ?

NB : I would also like to replace the brass valve with a TPM style knurled valve with purple crystal, but I don't know yet if this valve can be unscrewed on the MR AOTC saber.

Re: Obi TPM/AOTC buttons

I disassembled the MR version of the AOTC saber a few years back, and although I don't remember the details such as threading, the brass valve did come off. It was a little tricky to get off, but since you'll be taking it off with the intention of replacing it, I imagine you won't be to bothered about scratching it. The one I took off was already pretty messed up, and the owner had asked me to fix it up.

Red buttons and brass valves pop up in the junkyard now and again. I believe Romans Empire said he was thinking about producing some more of these in the future as well, I'm sure he'll announce anything here. :)

Re: Obi TPM/AOTC buttons

The original AOTC button was painted since the prop was chromed resin.
That's why the MR did the same.

Roman is producing more red buttons, but I don't know when or if they will have the same threading as the MR.

Thanks for your input !

About the brass valve, I know trying to replace it with a knurled one would be wrong, as the AOTC saber was made after a Stunt TPM, and thus had less detailing on it (no pommel holes, no shaved LEDs...)

But I don't have the cake for an Elite MR TPM, so I would like to be able to change a few details depending on my mood.

About the red button, I do know the screen used one was painted red and I like it that way.

But I forgot to mention that mine looks crappy because the paint is seriously chipping, and it really looks bad.

So I would like to buy 2 new red buttons :

- One that I will paint "Ferrari" red to match the movie prop.
- One that I will leave "Anodized red" for the TPM look.

@ lonepigeon : I've always wanted to congratulate you about your website, now I can : Bravo ! :thumbsup

Re: Obi TPM/AOTC buttons

I just got my hand on a custom Obi TPM saber.

It seems to have been made by DH Studios, and comes with a custom numbered plaque (#7 out of 10).

It looks really good and fairly accurate.

But still, I would like to replace the red button, the valve and the shaved LEDs on this one.

Since i'm a new member, i'm not allowed to post in the JY, so can someone please tell me where I can contact Roman's Empire for some parts ?

And where I can find a new valve and LEDs ?

Thanks :$

DH=Darth Hez...see second post in this thread.
That's a great saber. I was able to get one from him and its great.
Just pm Roman'sEmpire, don't need access into the junkyard for that.

Re: Obi TPM/AOTC buttons

Thank you for your help, now I know what to do :thumbsup

But first things first, I still have a thousand projects on the table so i'll shelve this one for a couple of weeks :rolleyes
