Dexter Season 1 Ice Truck Killer Doll

I'm waiting to hear back from the Customer Service people at the company to see if they can accurately pinpoint the EXACT head, but in the meantime, I've been buying some of the dolls with the accurate body type on eBay.

I kind of have a hunch that the screen-used head never belonged to the screen-used body. I could be wrong though. I'm waiting to hear back...

The second hand market will probably be best for these because they have since changed body types and I believe no longer sell the correct ones.

I can't recall off the top of my head what the "Home Sweet Home" outfit looked like. Are you able to post a screenshot?

This is from Season 1 finale:

I don't think that the apron is made by the same company that made the doll. The doll maker is more of a "designer clothing" company.

We did a bit more research last night and it seems we may have found the head. It looks like it came from the 2004 line.

I agree, but we still cannot pinpoint exactly which doll that is. I'm looking for a name of the doll. The company makes a bunch of different faces, all with minuscule differences and different names. I'm still trying to find out her name.

Also, the dolls are Barbie-esque, but definitely not "Barbie" and not even made by Mattel.

UPDATE:

We received the first doll in the mail on Friday. We wanted to post pictures, but because of Halloween, we didn't have time.

This is undoubtedly THE doll. The head that came with it is CLOSE, but isn't the same. As stated above, we haven't pinpointed the exact head yet, but believe it to be one of the heads offered in 2004.

I'll post pictures and info tonight when I get home from work, or tomorrow after work.

(y)thumbsup

The correct doll body (which of course comes with an incorrect head until the correct one is ID'd) is readily available on eBay for cheap. Plenty for all!

You are on your own with the red ribbon. lol.

This is driving me nuts. I know I've seen that doll on shelves before. I was looking up MyScene, Generation Girl, and Cali Girl, all with no luck. It's possible that she was just tad taller than Barbie, but not enough that that head would be too big on a Mattel body.

This one looks an awful lot like the screenshot, with diffent colored eyes. The hair looks like it's brighter red and straight. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=200401120453

Well, I didn't get a chance to take photos, but I did hear back from the company about which doll it is, so here goes...

Thank you for your inquiry.

The doll that was used was part of our old playline collection we used to
sell through Kmart, Walmart and TRU a few years ago.

You might want to do a search on eBay for a doll called Alysa, that was the
exact name of the character. The particular doll used on the show was part
of a line we did called "Studio IT".

I hope this helps!

Regards

Integrity Toys, Inc.

The screen used doll was a doll made by Integrity Toys.

Do a search on eBay for "Integrity Doll" or "Studio it Doll"

There are currently no "Alysa" dolls that fit the bill on eBay at the moment, but there are plenty of older dolls with the correct doll body type. The newer dolls are a bit more articulated. Make sure you don't get a newer, more articulated doll.

Also, I wanted to point out that on the hands, there is a space between the pinky finger and the rest of the fingers to easily boil the hand and possibly bend the fingers in place to hold the mirror.

From
my fiancee Abby said:
The tells were the bellybutton, the defined ribcage and the larger breasts. Those parts were very prominent on the screen shot posted on the fist page of this thread. Until recently, Barbie never had a bellybutton.

All credit goes to Abby for this. I don't want anyone thinkin' I play with dolls. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be in the garage, building something manly.
:cool

So have you come up with the correct doll head yet? I thought that the redhead one I posted looked like a good match, other than the eye color.

I just finished watching the first series of Dexter the other day and I LOVE it! Thank you so much for the research you've done Bobamatt and for the great screen shots.

Thanks to you, I'm pretty confident that I've found the exact doll used. :):thumbsup Looks like correct eyes, lipstick AND hair.

I saw that one too, but I didn't want to pay what they were asking plus the international shipping charge. I think that's the closest (if not the EXACT) I've seen yet.

... and just for the record, my fiancee did the research, not me. I only posted what she told me to. I do other MANLY things like itch my crotch and spit.

:lol

Yeah, I did think it was darn expensive for an old doll that would have originally cost $8, but I've not seen another that looks right ANYWHERE. Been watching it for a while and eventually caved and went for it. I'll get detailed nude shots posted when it arrives (not just the head, but the body looks right too - from what I can see anyway). Looking forward to cutting it up. :lol

While taking screen-caps I noticed something - they used two different dolls to represent parts of the same doll!

Dexter2.jpg

As stated earlier in the thread, the cut up doll has wrists that bend out away from the body and a gap between the pinkies and the other fingers.

However, when Dexter reaches down and picks up the hand we then cut to this close-up shot:

Dexter4.jpg

Dexter5.jpg

This is an entirely different doll's hand - straight wrist, no pinkie space and no large space between the thumb and fingers.

Grrrr.... That's just going to make creating a replica all the more difficult. :angry:lol

Well the doll arrived and I'm very pleased to say that it appears to be an EXACT match to the screen used doll. :):thumbsup

Here's the version you want:

And some comparison photos (unclothed, but not yet sliced and diced):

You can't see them in the photo, but the slots in the bottom of the feet are also present.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it?

And if you could, could you post the page for reference? I'd like to maybe track this one down.

As of right now, there is an Aaylsa doll on ebay, but it doesn't seem to have the right head.
