Dexter: Blood Slide Case

:lolThat's funny! You must be talking about that other guy that's been selling his box replicas to satisfied customers for the past month!
Yeah, I don't care about quality either...I just want accurate measurements!!

For this, I really don't care about quality. I just want it to look as accurate as possible. I'm not bashing your efforts, as the craftsmanship is amazing; New Yankee Workshop quality. It was a compliment. I'm just stating my OPINION on what I want in a blood slide box. If I were in the medical field, I would get one of yours so I could use it on a day to day basis.

You're much much too hot tempered, defensive, and unprofessional, again, in my opinion. Frankly, that's another reason I'd rather do business elsewhere. I'm not trying to start anything, but I would like you to take this friendly advice to heart: Calm Down. You've made some nice contributions to this board, and I wouldn't want to see you get alienated.

Well I must say the box I recieved is top notch. I compared it with hi res screen caps and with a standard blood slide box (As I work in a laboratory quite requarly) and this particular Trophy case is amazing and as far as accuracy I dont think you can get much closer. I cannot find a single problem accuracy wise with mine and I have gone over it with a fine tooth comb!

A good friend of mine was hired-on as 'set master' for season 4. One night, we're in his home watchin' & talkin' Dexter (Jimmy Smits' season) & the next thing we know - he's "workin' it!"

What's your friends name I might know him. What BTWis a "set master"? Not familiar with this term.

...then you might not know him.

Suffice it to say, when Mr. Hall or Any of the Dexter' stars needs a scalpel or particular prop for a scene, my friend is the person who is at the ready! (he's on-set & works directly with the Talent)

What do you do? (just asking, my friend might know You)

...the signature is because it's interesting how people feel the need to act as cronies to a higher power and report your ever post and move as if feeling a sad sense of competition or thrill from tattling. That's a whole other story. Some of those cronies are members here.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I'm interested in the Dexter Slide Box too.

I've researched slide boxes online but only found the ones that open the wrong way and they also have a laminated top, as well as the slide boxes are only designed to take a single slide instead of the dual slide as shown in Dexter.

So, I was wondering what others in this forum are selling their custom boxes for?

Thanks!

My passion for the Trophy case has been compromised & I want to publicly apologize to the Dexter fans for not doing the right thing when things got sticky in the 1st place & that is -
To withdraw from this situation all together.
(in plain English - stick a fork in silly ol' me - cause I'm done! )

Enjoy the Show & Prop Collecting!

I LOVE this show and have been dying to get a blood slide case for a while now.

Oh and coincidentally enough, I used to live in the house that is now Quinns apartment on the show. It's the yellow and blue one (actually white and blue in real life) and it's on 1st street in Long Beach. The next block over is also where Dexter and Rita's house is now on the show too. I have to laugh every time I drive past "Dexter's" house because they repainted the sidewalk with a little Miami palm tree and the house number and it's the ONLY repainted house number on the sidewalk. Gets me every time. It sticks out like a sore thumb lol.

A formal Apologia!

It's official - I'm an idiot!

I had a long talk last night with the gentleman who got me started in Prop making & told him this story.
He read all the Posts ( I made & kept copies of Every Single One) & PMs & Emails, then he reminded me of exactly why I do this - passion.
He then knocked me over when he said that I was into this Dexter Trophy Box thing - for the Wrong reason!

Allow me refresh the tell:
I first got involved in this drama because I love the show & when I saw the posts about Dexter -
I thought I might be able to help out with some of the prop searches because my friend works for the show.
I asked my friend if he might be able to get me info & images of some of the shows key props. He said the show was on hiatus but when the next season rolled around he would do all he could, so long as the show was in no-way compromised.

I then posted on RPF about my potential access to the show & asked openly what would people want to see more of & know about the show's props. At this time I also mentioned that I was interested in making Dexter's Trophy Case.
I got a number of replies & received several PMs asking if I would make them a Trophy Box too.

Somewhere between - me wanting to help the fans & simply make props - I got emotionally invested in a debate over semantics & I lost sight of why I'm in this game in the first place - Passion.

My friend also reminded me that the internet has all-seeing eyes & that I could be inadvertently compromising my friend's job - if word of this drama somehow got back to the producers of the show.

Anyway, to wrap this up... my passion for the Trophy case has been compromised & I want to publicly apologize to the Dexter fans for not doing the right thing when things got sticky in the 1st place & that is -
To withdraw from this situation all together.

Passion is certainly what drives this hobby too. If I had a nickel for every time a friend told me I was crazy for spending so much money and time on prop replicas, but my passion for collecting movie items is no different than someone with a passion for collecting expensive sports memorabilia - jerseys, autographed balls, equipment, etc...
Props are something special. A simple object like a flash handle can become the fantastical weaponry of a Jedi Knight....and a woman's shaver can become a comlink:)
I love the Dexter show. I love props. I love being able to help work on a prop that I like and that many others like too - and I look forward to having an opportunity to make things right and forge a new friendship with Modeleers and work towards a common goal.
