Detolf Alternative

I was just leafing through some flyers and came across a display cabinet very similiar to the popular Ikea Detolf shelf.

For those that don't have an Ikea near by. Perhaps you have a JYSK Bed & Bath nearby?

Here is the online flyer. They call it "Seja" $88.88 Canadian.

They must be buying from Ikea or a division of Ikea cause that is the detolf case with some feet on it. The rest of the furniture is all Ikea as well.

That case is 60 bucks at Ikea. I modified mine with base and crown molding and painted it white. Looks 500 times better than the store bought version.

Not sure price wise which is cheaper (never looked) but was posting more for convenience since Ikeas are few and far between. Nearest Ikea to me is either a 4 hour drive in Canada or a 45 min drive over the border to the new one opening in Michigan. This JYSK place is 5 minutes up the road.

I had never heard of this place until they opened one in town but according to their website they've been around since 79 and hve stores all over the world. They out of Denamrk and seem to be similiar in concept to Ikea.

CAD88.88 = USD79.09 at the current exchange rate. That's almost USD20.00 above the Ikea price. But, as you point out, Ikea isn't an option for a lot of people because of location. I would think a $20.00 premium would be worth paying for those who don't want to drive a five-hour round trip to the nearest Ikea. Plus, this one's got feet.

Of course, if you are buying several cases, and you happen to own a pickup truck, the drive starts looking better.
