Denuo Novo (only) New and existing products

You're right! I just checked it. I have the Master Replicas Phase II helmet and it looks almost identical in the way it's made to the EFX Phase I helmet. It's been so long since I ordered it that I was thinking both were from Master Replicas. This explains why the Master Replicas paint has a more off-white color to it.

UPDATE: I just read that both were essentially made by the same team, so that explains why they are so close.

Yeah. If I remember Brian snagged a lot of Master Replicas people/stuff. They only offered the Phase 1 Clonetrooper and Red Captain. Too bad. Yellow guy and pilot would have been cool.

Please post a photo. I can see if my Denuo Novo x-wing helmets look the same.

You can see it a little bit from the front, but you can really see it from the bottom.

I sent an email to DN, but haven't received a response yet.

Below are a few photos of my Denuo Novo Luke, Denuo Novo Red Leader, and RS Dak helmets. I think some asymmetry happens by gluing the left and right shells to the mohawk.

Thanks!

I definitely see some asymmetry in the RS Dak helmets, but not so much on the DN Luke helmet. I do see a little on the DN Red Leader from the front pic.

How do you like the Red Leader helmet? As that's the next one I would be interested in.

I suspect the asymmetry varies for each individual helmet, not necessarily the same for all of a certain pilot.

I like the Red Leader helmet. Like the others, some of the weathering is baked into the decals and some is applied with paint and scratching after the decals.

I finally heard back from DN about the asymmetry in the Rebel Pilot helmets...

There is some asymmetry to the X-Wing helmets. They were not CASTED from screen used but 3D scanned and then slightly modified for mass production.

Thanks and MTFBWY!

Sounds a little more like an excuse on why they're not symmetrical and it may be purely by accident.

In any case I have grown to like the Gold Leader helmet and it fits in well enough with the Hasbro Black Series helmets not to look like a sore thumb, so I am keeping it.

They described the process that was used. I believe this is what they do for all of the helmets.

I bet each of the screen used helmets has asymmetry that wasn't identical from helmet to helmet. If you glue two outer shells to a mohawk strip, do you expect to get it exactly the same every time? The shells themselves may be somewhat asymmetrical as well.

The actual OT helmets for all characters had lots of asymmetry and what most people would call defects. The prop department built them fast and cheaply.

Oh I know how it goes. I built my Mandalorian helmet (pictured in my avatar) by hand from Plexiglas and fiberglass it's far from being symmetrical.

There are ways to make true symmetrical helmets though as Hasbro produces them. DN is just trying to be true to the original materials used.

make a true symmetrical stormtrooper and many will notice something is off. the OT stuff without imperfections would not be the real stuff

The method Denuo Novo is using goes back to the decisions Anovos made. The OT x-wing and stormtrooper helmets were made with similar materials and assembly as the originals, but the molds were somewhat idealized. Denuo Novo is producing theirs based on the Anovos design because they wanted the customers to get the same thing that they ordered from Anovos.

It certainly is possible to make an x-wing helmet that is more sturdy and symmetrical. efx had a fiderglass x-wing helmet. The Black Series helmets are more rigid. Denuo Novo has the fiberglass Poe ST helmet. It comes down to what decisions were made for how to manufacture the helmets and what materials to use. Each approach has advantages. Each buyer needs to understand which features are important to them to decide which helmet is best for them. That is why I disagree with people that make definitive statements saying a certain replica helmet is the best. The best helmet for one buyer may be different than the best helmet for another buyer.

Oh no! This is the one I cancelled the original version I had on order to go for this one instead.

What cracks me up is I checked out the web page and obviously they don't have a pic up yet, but I think they may want to work on their marketing algorithms for sending out emails as this is a bit ridiculous. Maybe add a line of code to check if the image exists first.

The sucky part is this is $50 more than an entire set of Classic Stormtrooper armor. Bring on the holiday sales!

When I first saw the Death Trooper Specialist link it didn't even have much in the Product Details section. At least it has that section now. I think it is odd they add new products without any photos of the product or a pre-production sample.

I'm really surprised that DN is announcing this helmet already when they're regular Death Trooper helmet is running so far behind schedule and still in the "pre-order" stage. I'm also surprised there's only a $25 difference. My guess is that it's the exact same helmet with a battery compartment and LEDs added.

DN has restocked Imperial Officer Uniforms. Nice to know they're doing this.

Does anyone have either of the hats? If so, how are they? They look exceptionally big in the photo.
