tip: paint chips can make a foam iron man suit looks "realistic" :lol

Yeah, I guess I should have specified that foam builds look less realistic than a pep build in person. I have seen some pictures... like the one above... that are damn hard to tell if it is foam or pep, but then some people do a better job than others. Yes, I do like the paint chips... I too think it adds to the realism of the suit.

My whole point was that, while a full on pep build is generally considered to be a higher quality costume, foam builds are better for some people especially if you can make it look like this picture, lol

Wow Roy ! Your suit looks awesome !
You did a really great paint job on it, i wouldn't be able to say it was made out of foam.
How did you proceed to get such a clean metalic look?
You make me want to sell my suit so i can build a whole new one x)

Could someone post a pic of how their suit looks at the joints from the chest piece to the back piece ??? at the side of your body like midway on your rib cage under your arm??

I need to see someone else's work (a professional) before I go joining my two pieces....

Your a gent mate.

Putting all the layers together had to mod the collar plates a bit for it to look "together"

Whats everyone's preferred tryed and true sealing method 1:1 pva glue and water?

I followed the pep to the t. I enlarged it by 10% to get a good fit. But the jaws seem to protrude alot. Any views?

How are people weathering their suits ?

I know black shoe polish is good for doing the "dirty joints" but what about the metallic weathering chips ?

Is that done with a sponge and silver paint ?

AdamJ try drybrushing the area if you know what i mean it always had good results when i was doing models im sure it can be applied here. It basically involves painting the required area in a mat black paint wait for it to dry completley then getting a small amount of silver paint on a brush wiping off excess so there is practically none on the brush then quickly buff the brush over the black areas.

Well guys its been a little while since I last posted on here. Figure I'd give everyone an update. I took the costume to my local comic shop's Avengers Vs Xmen party. The costume was a hit to everyone, except me.

Everyday I look at the amazing builds everyone is doing and say to myself "I can do better than what you did."

So I've rebuilt the head, back, and thighs with some more on the way, hope you guys find it alright.

my fabric covered foam iron man suit. Yeah I been real busy with training and competition so I finally finished it. I also will send stealth a video on my method since i hate to paint and use fabric.
