Looks awesome !

Can't thank Stefano enough for the tutorials and both he and Robo for these templates. It has reignited my interest in trying one of these again!

The only file I have had trouble downloading is the knuckles file. It says the link is invalid.

@ mizuno hadouken looks like a great fit, can you post more pics of your ab section?

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Sure I'll take more when I get home. I used a thicker foam for the oblique section to try to match the thickness seen in screen shots/hot toys figure. I also directly connected the obiliques to the cod. For the actual abs portion, I connected each piece with some elastic strips to leave gaps between each ab, and then the very top ab buckle connects to the chest piece and I just tuck the sides and bottom into place. It would probably more efficient to make extensions on the sides of the front abs so they stay in place, but i'm pretty lazy to do so since there are other things on the suit I'm trying to get done.

I think i have a problem guys :(

ok so i have been a little impatient as i dont have the funds for plastidip and have tried out the pva method. So this is 1 part pva glue and 1 part water. this is then brushed on doing about 5 - 6 layers. Ive now tried out the primer but something has gone wrong somewhere?? what should i do?

from far away it looks fine lol but get closer and you see this

the holes in the foam are still visible :( i know you can just just put pva on without mixing the water but will peel off after time. other than that it looks like i may have to wait for plastidip.

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Don't thin out the pva as much for the first several coats, and really let it soak in. Then use your 1:1 ratio for the final coats to smooth everything out

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

ok thanks guys.

the foam i used has this description:

Non absorbent
Easy thermal insulation from cool ground
Waterproof & washable
Lightweight
Excellent recovery from compression
100% extremely fine polyethylene foam construction
Size: 1800 x 500 x 9mm

Hello i am new to the forum and inspired by everyone's awesome work. I am wanting to start on this tonight with the MK6 but i have a question. Was all the edges done with a 45degree angle cuts? Especially for the chest piece

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

That's neat with the abs. Probably gives you more flexibility than if they were all glued together?

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Yeah... i used the wrong material on this set of abs though. On my other set for my mkvi stealth, I used elastic to hold the abs together on the same connections on the pictures above.

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Sorry if this is already on the thread, but can someone explain the difference between the A4 files and the Letter version and which one to use.
I'm going to start a foam suit and could really use any advice since I'm a novice when it comes to foam building.

Lots of great stuff here that everyone has built.

Thank you all for any help in advance.

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

A4 is the standard paper size in the UK/Europe. Letter size is standard in the U.S.

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

hi guys,
i got a question...
here is the thing,i got my Iron Man helmet using the files on that Post
using eva foam 6mm,but when i tried to add manual hinges,it always looks weird or too soft i tried it many ways but for me it is impossible, so here is the question.
is that possible to add hinges on a foam helmet?

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

A hinge system would probably be too heavy for a foam helmet

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

I dont know if i explained it right because my english is suck.,anyway i just want to make the face plate up and dow or open and close XD

I think that most people that use foam for the helmets just use small magnets to hold the face plate in place and I have seen some that also add magnets to hold it in the open position. So you would lift the faceplate up and it would stay and then you would move it down and it would stay there too.

If you want to use hinges I would use a light weight plastic for the hinge system... metal hinges are too heavy and rigid for foam.
