Got mine finished (beside the "disc" on the left side) the last week-end Maybe (not sure about it) I will weather it a bit on the Flash hider and the scope...
but for the Moment I'am pretty happy with the final result

The Stand has been built by myself as well. Which is think is looking quit good.

Yes the stand is made by myself! First I worked on a wooden-version only, but soon decided to add the acrylic-surface (that is just a clear acryl-glas from the hobby/hardware store, (spray-)painted black from one side to get a nice "kind of a mirror" surface). Last but not least I needed to have the Aluminium strips
(L-shape) which I've treated with "Alu-black"-bluing, to get the Blaster and stand match up each other.

If I would have to do another one, I would place the blaster off-centered on the stand.

morgan63.. I've had a bottle of "ChaosBlack" (Gamesworkshop) spray paint/primer laying arround, which is given a matt painting surface to work with.
I am pretty sure, you can use every "black" paint to get same results as seen above. You even could us a brush to paint the back of the acryl-glas! If you are unsure simply try with a scrap-pc. before!

I thought about adding White paint to the acryl.. to get a better contrast! Also you can add decals with the StarWars Logo, and so on...

I can't seem to get my denix to get any darker. I've even tried heating the metal before applying the Super Blue. Any further suggestions?

I would recommend also using Aluminum Black if you're doing a Denix. Preheating my sanded Denix lower body in a mini oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes before bluing produced a dark blue tone that was fairly even and consistent along the entire thing, with only a few small spots of discoloration. I repeated this about two more times, and gave it a quick rub with some oil to clean it down then.

If it was not scuffed and cleaned very well it will not blue well.

warm it, a hair drier is fine. Should not be so hot you can not handle it. Wear rubber gloves. Apply bluing in sections. Use a small pan to work over so you can reuse what drips off. Apply enough bluing to make it wet in areas and use 0000 steel wool or a fine scour pad and lightly rub in the bluing. This smooths the application and will get under any oily spotting areas. Let stand for a few minutes then rinse in water. Use hair drier to help dry. When dry, use 0000 wool to "lightly" buff off the powdery residue. This makes it look very steely.
Re apply if necessary.
Oil when satisfied.
Should work great

I know it's probably in this thread somewhere but I'm hoping someone can help me out. (48 pages is a lot) What size hole should I drill and thread for the scope mount? And how much of the barrel needs cut off.
(as you can tell I just got my accurized denix today)

Yes; as I've gathered you'd need a 13/64 drill bit, then thread with a 1/4-20 tap.

I know I'm probably the last one to finish my DL-44 but I wanted to share a few pics.
I have the MR Elite DL-44 and wanted this one to look bad, really weathered (almost like Ben's ANH lightsaber)
My approach was to use chemical weathering on the parts because I've never use that before and I wanted to try my hand at it. After following the video instructions in this thread I used a kitchen sponge & water to remove any excess rust. Then I used 0000 steel wool on the denix. The photos look a bit lighter & greyer than in person, it's actually a tad more black. Overall I'm happy with it and enjoyed this thread and the build.

Congrats on the complete build! And no, you're not the last one building - mine is (STILL) being built on an accurized MGC, like Kpax. I've been caught up in college and full time work, and have little leisure time to myself nowadays. I'm getting there though.

Do you have any plans on adding the Mystery Disc and sight greeblies? I think they would finish the look. The only other thing I would suggest is to file and crank a bit more on the Denix's chamfers so that the bull barrel can slip a bit further back - it'll make the whole thing look a LOT cleaner and more complete, I guarantee it! :thumbsup

Just thought I'd share my finally finished build I've been waiting for a few last bits and pieces and some free time to put it together. Its all mounted on one of Bobadebt's accurized Denix's. The hardest part was getting the Scope and the mount to "take" the bluing liquid. In the end I used 'steel black', 'aluminium black' and 'pewter black'. cleaning and rubbing back between each coat and the scope took on a kind of iridescent look with blues blacks and browns ! Happy accident The poor mans lathe worked a treat too!

There are few good original photos showing either the sight greeblies or the Mystery Disc, so most people idealize them.

Thank you for those. :thumbsup I had thought the parts included were longer than needed and that helps show how much to cut away.
For the mystery disk I don't have access to a machine shop and I'm reluctant to try a dremmel to get the spun metal look, what other options may work?
Also, I darkened the bull barrel and took a better pic which shows it more true to life.
