DEC ANH Hero Blaster Kit Builds

Re: Simplified, cheaper DEC ANH Hero Blaster Kit parts (posted with permission fr...

I FINALLY got the dam-er, darn thing mounted! YAY!!! Sorry Pat, I know that we initially agreed that you'd do the mounting, out of fear of me mounting it horribly crooked, but my impatience got the better of me, and I cracked. To my eye, it's straight, but then again, what do I know?

With a close-up of the crossbar. Does it look straight to you?

I still need to trim the threaded rods down to the correct size, as well as finish cutting through the original Mauser barrel, though that inner steel rod is the devil incarnate. After putting the whole thing together, I have only one thing to say; DAM, IS IT HEAVY! The scope mounted on the side makes it feel unbalanced like heck. It's SO cool to hold, though the crossbar and knurled knob dig into the side of my hand a little bit. I'm also worried that I mounted it a HAIR to low. Again, what do you all think? And don't worry Pat, I'm still going to send it to you to do the frame recontouring/bluing/weathering/finish work, but I still want to do as much of it as I possibly can.

I feel so smugly~rouge! :lol

Thanks! I was stressing SO much when I was in the middle of drilling, but now that it's done, I'm totally jazzed about it. And yes, I DO need you. No way could I ever do all the crazy awesome frame recontouring that you did on your MGC. MAYBE I could manage the trigger guard reshaping, but that's about it. The bluing and weathering as well I have precious little experience with, so that's out of my hands as well. I figured that if I do some more of the work myself, then not only do I get to have more fun with this project, but then the bill that I get from you should be a little cheaper as well! :lol And don't worry, I should be sending it out to you in the near future, I just need to contact DEC first to clear up a Hensoldt scope upgrade and some custom work on my scope mount. Thanks for the advice too! :D

That all looks great!

Don't do a hole... there's no turning back from a hole if you don't like it. I think the original prop just had a dark spot (paint? remaining blue?), and at least with that you can re-do it until the cows come home. But the hole... it's there forever... or unless you wanna get real crafty filling it.

I'd love to see a GK kit, that Blaster is my white whale, every time I come close to getting one or a full set of parts something goes wrong & it falls through :lol

I'd also love to see a set of Merr Sonn parts (you've already cracked the FH, bull barrel & cylinders) :)

I think I've got all my blued parts blued & painted parts painted

just need to beat them up & weather them now I guess

Was pleased that when I took the mystery disk sticker off it had worked, need to decide if I'm adding a small hole in the middle

noticed tonight that the bull barrel actually looks blue up close

Looks pretty good. I don't think it's too low for sure...

But while I know this is temporary placement... your scope needs to move back a little.

As for the bar and knurled knob digging in... yeah that sucks... imagine it with recoil... but I filed down the knurls a bit where it makes contact with my hand. That helps.

That would actually make sense with the knurled knob-assuming that it's rubbing constantly against your hand, over time, it would undoubtedly wear down the knurl in that spot. Thanks for the tip, I'll probably do that too. The scope I already adjusted, but I'm still planning on filing down the inside of the scope cradle and the inside of the scope rings, so that tightening gap becomes MUCH smaller-that gap is much larger than the gap on run 1 and 2 parts. I'll post another pic once that is done too. I also was careful to align the right arm of the scope cradle in between the two grooves on the upper receiver rail-that had me sweating. I'm also planning on replacing the scope with a nicer one in the future too. Thanks for the advice Scott, it really is sweet to nerd out with!

Now, what to do with my second MGC now...Hmmm... :unsure

Been having fun with the blueing liquids . A paint brush or small bit of sponge works really well .

Please tell us HOW you removed the Denix bolt ??

Re: Simplified, cheaper DEC ANH Hero Blaster Kit parts (posted with permission fr...

Just like a real mauser. Pull out firing pin (grab with pliers and pull) then remove bolt stop (springy rectangular on too right of barrel. To the right and below the sight ramp. Then pull the bolt out.

Hey all,

Can anyone explain to me the reverse sight? Is the sight supposed to be going the opposite direction? Thanks.

Do you mean the little slider? that is reversed

Re: Simplified, cheaper DEC ANH Hero Blaster Kit parts (posted with permission fr...

Yes. Any pix of how that's supposed to look?

Re: Simplified, cheaper DEC ANH Hero Blaster Kit parts (posted with permission fr...

This might be a silly question but which way round does the glass go in the scope?

is it dome facing out or dome facing in?

been looking at pics & I think it's dome out but I can't tell for certain

oh & my Alu FH arrived today, very nice

Re: Simplified, cheaper DEC ANH Hero Blaster Kit parts (posted with permission fr...

dome out

- - - Updated - - -

the "push button" should be on the right side of the blaster.
Maybe someone who has reversed theirs can explain how....

Re: Simplified, cheaper DEC ANH Hero Blaster Kit parts (posted with permission fr...

The sight "knurl" is on the wrong side of the blaster. It is supposed to be on the right hand side, not the left. (Note:The following pic shows it on the WRONG side)

This is an easy fix:

Take a flathead screwdriver and gently twist each side evenly. Do one side, then the other, then the other etc. until the sight comes apart. It is pressed fit so no need to worry about glue or anything else holding it together.

Once apart flip if so it's oriented the correct way, place it on the sight itself (the sight with the numbers on it) and use a soft rubber mallet or something that won't mar the surface. Tap it back together and presto, problem solved.

Just a suggestion, you can put a nut behind the front mount threaded rod for extra security
View attachment 345418

I did this, as well as dropping a bit of 2-part epoxy in there, as my tapping skills were non-existent and the forward bolt ended up a tad wobbly. I had a bit left over, so I backed out the rear one and dabbed a bit on the threads. That made it much easier to cut off the bolts to the appropriate length.

*edit-

Also, even a cast M19 in pewter and other ESB bespin would be a great next run, IMO.

First to be mentioned that I received my Alu-Flash-Hider today :D Many thanks DAVE simply perfect :thumbsup
(Feedback via TheRPF-System to follow shortly)

Second, congrates to everybodys built and sharing tips, tricks and knowledge :thumbsup

Third, here some pics of my actual DL-44 construction :$
Was able to get the scope and mount a lot darker with Super-Blue :thumbsup Still not the way I wanted to have it finally, but I Keep working on it!
Obviously the grill needs more touch ups, but I've managed to drill and tap the holes for the scope-mount. Still some work left, but it's getting
closer to be finished :)

So far I am realy happy with the actual appearance.

Pics are done in full daylight. so it is darker in person/real!
