DeadSpace 2 - CEC Engineering Suit

1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg

The leg test ring worked so made and painted all four. Very cool :)

The left arm is done and ready for its details to be added.

All in all I'm happy with how things are going. Ordered some more EL wire to add to the RIG so #watchthisdeadspace.

I don't have a garage and a storm is brewing. So I popped my boots in the car and found an underground car park to spray

Sorry for bombarding this post this weekend but things are going well. (I have sprayed one hand black and can not remove the paint but Hay...)

Boots done! Added EVA foam rear foot clamps. Lights working and hazard yellow added. All in all HAPPY

I will begin on my right thigh (Two cilinders) then the full suit will be almost there. My EL wire has not turned up so lights within my RIG have not been done.

Knees done. Hold the phone... Is that the full suit built and painted?!? Time to relax. Now I must add all the details and lights. But if push comes to shove I could walkabout in it now and you would know who I am.

Wow that looks amazing. I've been wanting to make a RIG, but it would officially be my first ever build and I've never worked with a lot of those supplies. Any advice you could offer?

Take your time and be ready for multiple things to go wrong :)
Its been a long fun journey. If you have a work space that will help. I have to pack away each session as I only have a table in the front room where the family eat.

When using Worbla (This was my first time using) I discovered its more about the smell than the look when knowing when the product is ready to use. It lets of a (Nice) smell just as the material is ready to use. So when you get that wiff its time to shape before it goes stiff!

EVA is cheap and easy to use. You could getaway with making this suit without Worbla its just a product I wanted to learn.

Create a thread during your build as the comments help inspire you to continue. And I always start with the helmet first as that alone is inspiring when you look at it.

I hope you have a successful build!!!

And remember to #watchthisdeadspace :)

Some updates!!!

5.jpg4.jpg

So the LED's look cool! I found a plastic pipe from a sink and hot glued some LED's into it! Nice!! also added a small round light to the side and covered half with tape. All looking good!

I have just added a small test video of the RIG to my facebook page (Dax79Cosplay)
3.jpg

The map unit now lights up! Nice little easter egg within for you DeadSpace fans!

2.jpg1.jpg

Lights added to my left hand! Soon I will try the full suit on so please continue to #watchthisdeadspace

Today It was time to finish my Plasma cutter. I only have five weeks till Comic-Con (UK) so I must Busta move :)

33.jpg11.jpg22.jpg44.jpg

I wired up some LED's and fed them into the cutter I had made last year. I used polymorph to hold the system in the cutter. I have set a switch up on the underside of the gun so to turn the lights on I must use my other hand. It's a rocker so the lights can be left on. I pop the 9V battery into the hole underneath them use some soft gray foam to hold everything into place.

I'm very happy with this and hope it helps other cosplayers building one :)

I hope you still #watchthisdeadspace and if your at the May MCM in London, come say HI!

One month to go... So I was not happy with the vest as it was not fitting as well as I hoped. Also I was going to wear a boiler suite as a base layer but after studying the game I fount his under suite is much tighter and well fitting. So Ribs off the old and onto the new!

11.jpg 22.jpg77.jpg

I really like how the back is looking with the tighter vest...

88.jpg

Now for my shoulders you can see a cover that goes up to his neck. For this I got some plether and cut it to shape. I will ass Velcro to hold in place. This really helps cover the harness that the RIG and Chest map unit are using.

33.jpg44.jpg55.jpg

Also added the Map unit hinge...

9999.jpg

I used magnets to hold the 'floating' arm shield on the right arm, also magnets to hold the left shoulder plate in place.

999.jpg99.jpg

And almost finished the last part, the right leg tubes.

99999.jpg9999999.jpg

I hope your all as excited as I am to have him finished and continue to #watchthisdeadspace.

I have just made a website to use as a hub to keep all my cosplays and projects linked in one place so feel free to pop to www.dax79.com I will link everthing to that one place including my work on RPF.

1 month left...

nice job! looks great! love dead space, how long did it take you to choreograph the scene?? :thumbsup

I Created the performance MP3 in Adobe Premiere it took an hour to make the 01:40 skit. Then (According to iTunes counter) I listened to it over 500 times for 5 months. I only got to run though my movements in my full suit that morning before going on stage. I tried to add some fun to it and small things like using the status hand to light the mapped way (That I'm sure nobody picked up lol)

I will be taking this cosplay and this performance out again so #watchthisdeadspace for more!

Glad you liked it. Would you change anything I did?

- - - Updated - - -

Now if EA and Visceral would show the franchise as much love as the fans like you do.

Thank you for the kind words. Knowing EA they will probably try and sue me for copyright AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

There were subtle movements you did in the performance that I'm sure only fans of the game picked up on. I enjoyed that. I thought putting the hand out for the lit path was a nice touch.

The armor looks great and the proportions look really good. Parts of the suit are simplistic enough that if you don't get the proportions right, it looks off. So it's clear you put a lot of work into it. Good job, man.

as above you scaled the costume perfect. it looks great. and no I wouldn't change anything in performance. the stomping was cool :cool
