Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

well, i finally manned up and decided to do the part that is desperately missing from these files
the mk 7 neck piece, plus the attachments (details between the chest/back joint)

note: this file is modeled after reference images, but a lot of it is guesstimate, as there are no pics of what the side of the neck looks like, because the part that connects back and chest allways covers it up
it still needs unfolding, mainly because im lazy, and i allready provide the file for free ;)

its not perfect, but its definitely better to use than using a mk 3 brace
also note, it goes higher up than the mk 3 brace. this is because i realized that the mk 3 one is too short, therefor still revealing a lot of neck in the most cases. you can trim it, if its too long for you.

so, here are pics:

enjoy :)

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Was there ever a full back converted to foam. I looked on the first post and all I can find is Back2 the pic shows the one I'm looking for.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Nice neck, please post pics when someone peps it out. I wanna see what it looks like before i make one.

Does anybody know if Darkside is doing a neck for the v2?

If not... I've got one going, too
It's going to be Flexible/Collapsible.
I'll post it to my Misc 3D Page when I'm done with it.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Hey Darkside501st. Just another shout out for job well done. Great files and great thread.

Is there a description somewhere that I might have missed, maybe in other threads that explains what parts get connected where. Specifically like the abs pieces and the shoulder pieces to what, etc.

Thank you and welcome to the RPF. There is not one single way of attaching the pieces together. This is kind of up to the creativity of the builder and the resources that are available to said builder. There are plenty of IM builds posted on the RPF that you can get ideas from or inspiration to come up with something new. Good luck with your build.

Hey Darkside. I'm really excited to get started on this and have some free time, but I do want my costume to be as accurate as possible. Are there any pieces that you think are close enough and don't intend to change significantly?

Every piece will change slightly except for the gloves. The boots are not such a big deal either but if you want accurate then you should wait.

so im down to the boots, the hip pods, the hand covers and the neck seal

so far i guessed the sizes pretty good, but for the boots, i cant really use the measurement tool

so, any information on boot scaling? i have about size 11(or 45 in europe), and i am wearing old converse boots in the shoe, so they dont add a lot. how big do i size zabanas boot?

cheers
EoS

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Hi guys, I'm a newbie from Northern Ireland. I'd been watching the forums for a while before finally deciding to start my own Mark 7 about three weeks ago, hoping to have it finished in time for halloween. It's my first build, and I'm using Pep for most of it, with foam for the palms of the hands, abs and neck. Just wanted to say thanks to Darkside for these great files, EyeOfSauron for that new neck which I shall be using, and Stealth for his tutorials. Will have some photos soon, and likely some questions later into my build.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Hopefully I'm not out of line doing this...

I made some of my own edits to your pep file EyeOfSauron. I liked the work, but it spans multiple pages per part. I broke up the pieces into ones that can fit on a single sheet, and reduced it to one side of the neck for printing off templates to use to cut foam.

I uploaded it to my skydrive account since I hate those free file sharing sites; they make me feel like I'm going to catch something.

File is uploaded here:

I kept your name in the filename to preserve credit.

I haven't built it from that template yet, so I'm not 100% sure of how well that translates into foam with the smaller pieces. I plan on building a mockup by the weekend out of paper, so if I need to change the file I'll upload a new one.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Hey Darkside, when you finished the Mark VII... you'll encourage to make the Mark VIII ???
That's would a great news

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Alright, so I just build a crude mockup of the neck out of paper, and it's farking huge at the default scaling. I'm 6' 3" 215lbs and even with skipping the bottom and top layers it's big on me.

Definitely a piece people will likely need to scale down rather than up.

i did the scaling according to the top hole, according to my neck width, which is 13 cm, plus 2 cm for the 1cm foamies on each side, plus about 5 mm of wiggle room. i didnt try to build it yet, i just measured myself an thought it would be about right

Maybe I'll have to share a picture of me wearing it. The bottom part goes shoulder to shoulder on me without the last layer as well.

I might take the scale down from 1.4x to 1.2/1.25 or something like that and see how it fits.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

its not the right scale for paper thats for sure ;) because paper is thin, and the foam is 1cm, so thats at least 2 cm difference at the smallest opening

its supposed to go high up, allmost to the ear tho , to not leave any gap between the helmet and the neck. but i need to see a picture first, maybe im completely off my game here

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

you know, its really annoying if you have everything built except for one piece, and you run out of foam, and you would have to buy a full new pack of foam, even if you only need half a tile....

they are ****ing expensive here! (27 euro per pack)

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

Hit up Walmart.com

Or Amazon.com

I grabbed me a pack of 16 sheets of multicolored 1/8" foam sheets, that are like, 1' x 2' for (i think) $7.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

I attached the picture of the neck. As you can see, it goes shoulder to shoulder and hits the ears without the top layer and bottom layer. If I added those it would hand off my shoulder and be too tall for my neck.

I have a lot of slack in the back, so I can scale it down.

Once again, I'm 6' 3" and 215lbs; not exactly an average size guy :)

Also, I understand paper is going to be different than foam, but it should still be close with paper on a crude mockup.
