not very accurate though. . . ;)

DUDE! That is the best foam Mark VII I have ever seen! How'd you get to make the finish so smooth like it was a resin build?

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

hey I'm a mac user and I was wondering if anybody has pdf's for the mk vii.
thanks. Awesome job btw it looks amazing!

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

I attached the picture of the neck. As you can see, it goes shoulder to shoulder and hits the ears without the top layer and bottom layer. If I added those it would hand off my shoulder and be too tall for my neck.

I have a lot of slack in the back, so I can scale it down.

Once again, I'm 6' 3" and 215lbs; not exactly an average size guy :)

Also, I understand paper is going to be different than foam, but it should still be close with paper on a crude mockup.
i see. did you try a smaller scale yet? and have you come up with a result?

also, i made a template for the mk7 arc reactor as i couldnt find any.

so here it is :D

and this is how it looks lit in my chest:

the mark 7 arc reactor is the same as the mark 6 ; the new core (the triangle one)

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

EoS, I used your template to make a simple Model of it:

Should do the trick, if you add a bunch of LEDs to it...

Download on My Misc 3D Page.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

wait i am 100% sure that the arc that tony is wearing the new core arc while using the mark 7 we shouldnt be considering this pic for the arc because in this scene, he is not working so we cant see if it is or not ; also this pic is very blury sooo

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

there is no triangle there, you cannot doubt that. its all circles

i will not deny that he has the triangle chestpiece on while he gets out of the old damaged suit, and probably also has it under the new suit, but who says, that there is no cover for it included in the new suit.
i just watched the movie again, and due to not having a screenshot program, this is what printscreen came up with.
you can see the exact time of the shot, check it out on the bluray, you will see there is no triangle

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

there is no triangle but it is because he is turned off also ; the suit in the movie was done without a real suit;l its all done by computer so we cant judge if its the triangle or not because they did it by computer

a very good image of arc reactor mk7 can be found in titles to the Avengers movie

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

i know why you saw that its because to power all the suit he need to get his arc '' plugable'' so he uses a diffuse ring that is in his undersuit but whitout arc reactor the diffuse ring is no use
so the triangle arc powered the whole suit

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

What you guys are seeing is the Unibeam, not the arc reactor. Its what allows him to use the arc as a weapon. The reactor in his chest is still the same and no upgrades or new versions were shown from the end of IM2 into the Avengers. When tony is talking to Loki in the penthouse, its still the same Reactor glowing from behind his shirt

100% correct. Although his chest has the triangle, the unibeam in Avengers is most certainly circular.

Joss Whedon wasn't a fan of the triangle, and that was a big part of returning to the circle shape on the armor.

well you need to see more of my HD pictures of it (will be uploaded here and to TheHeroTutorial's facebook page this day or tomorrow after adding water marks)

about the paint "technique". . .i don't use PVA glue here. . .i used acrylic emulsion. . .then silver paint as primer. . .then "flash" coat of red. . .then 2 flash coats of white spray paint and then my final layer of red and gold. .it worked on my build specially at the ab pieces. .it makes my build "plastic" like :thumbsup

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

as i said, the arc reactor probably is triangular below the suit :)
but the unibeam (well i shouldve called it that from the beginning xD) is what is visible, and it most certainly is round ;)

also, as im annoyed by people opening all those countless iron man build threads, i will just post my progress here :D

Hey EOS. Great progress on your build. I had the same bicep problem you were having. I have since moved on to the chest and back. Couldn't stomach the thought of building my 4th bicep. Did you trim the bottom or were you able to find a scale that worked? Any insight before I get back to the arms will b helpful.

Also where are you connecting Darkside's shoulder bells?
