Hey EOS. Great progress on your build. I had the same bicep problem you were having. I have since moved on to the chest and back. Couldn't stomach the thought of building my 4th bicep. Did you trim the bottom or were you able to find a scale that worked? Any insight before I get back to the arms will b helpful.

Also where are you connecting Darkside's shoulder bells?
i havent rebuilt the biceps. it might be a bit too small, but im on a budget here, so it will do. probably gonna rebuild it sooner than later, but for now, meh :D

for the shoulders i just use a connector in the middle of the shoulder to the chest/back piece

I'm about to embark on this journey in the next couple days, and am so lost it hurts haha. I was wondering a few things. I'm 5"7 145 lbs, will the files fit my stature? Also what kind/how much card stock do you need. Also Is anyone on this from Vancouver/lower mainland? MSG me if you've made a suit. Thanks people

I'm 5"10' and 135 lbs, i used the standard scale of 23 on most of the parts except all the arm files which need scaling up on the most part. Everything is fiber glassed now and fits VERY snuggly. I'd choose 24 in hindsight.
I also used around 300 pages. I am working with a friend sharing paper who is building a war machine and we used nearly 600 pages of 180gsm paper. That's basically the thickest printable paper we could find in Staples. (US uses weight per pack or something, just Google a conversion :) )
Hope this helped [check my previous posts for more details on scaling and videos of the finished wearable suit if you need any more info]

You can't scale with the viewer, only with the designer.

Pepakura Designer FAQs

You can try to alter the scale via printer settings, but it's fairly hit or miss in my experience. I tried doing this by printing to PostScript files via a Generic PostScript printer driver, converting it to a PDF, and then adjusting the scale from Adobe Reader. In the end, I coughed up the $40 for the designer, because $40 was a reasonable price for my sanity.

Oh damn I'm thinking of designer. My bad . On designer, you can scale but nit save if you haven't paid for the key.

but you can download, install and use designer, just not save the edits.

Hey EOS (or anyone) Looks like there is are two pieces just above the chest plate the mate up to the two over the shoulder pieces that are part of the back piece. Was this a mod or part of the pep file that I am missing? I've seen similar in othe MKVII pics.

guys what software do you use to create the models, i understand they're created in one and then transfered to pepakura, i have something i want to model, completely new to it i have something in my head i want to model.

thanks

I think most of people create models in 3D studio max.

Other softwares:
- Cinema 4D;
- Blender;
- Sketchup;
- etc...etc...

Speaking of which...

I did scale it down to 1.3 from 1.46 and it fit better, but even then I had to remove the top and bottom layers. At that size the throat felt a little more snug, so it can't scale any lower for me. Also, you'd have to use some elastic to secure it together, otherwise you won't be able to move your head at all. It's pretty confining with paper, so I'd imagine foam would really be a challenge in terms of not being stuck looking straight ahead.

i actually built it in foam allready (well, almost) and what i can say is, if you cut the top layer in half height wise, youre good to go with a scale of 1.2
i used 1 cm foam, and, it fits snugly, not tight, but close.
i designed the top layer piece to go up too far under the helmet, so that is the reason why its a little high. just take a little height off of the top.
the bottom one, you can scrap if you want, its mainly there for the spine section, to have something that fits in the back section perfectly.
i still need to find a way to open/close it, as currently, i just left it open on one side at the spine section, but thats only for trial.
