D.C.'s Supergirl (tv series)

Best episode yet. I'm really digging the flying effects. Love the chemistry between Kara and Alex. Jimmy is growing on me. The show has so much heart.

This thing quickly is running out of gas. The actors are fine but the writers need to up the ante and get more serious. Kara is a dork and there needs to be more plot meat than a super villain smackdown of the week. That's been done to death already.

Ramp it up, folks! And while you're at it, decide if this is a show for kids or adults.

So now the intro is almost exactly like the Flash and Arrow.

Also she referenced Homeland. Wasn't she in that show ?

there is nothing wrong with kara being a dork. only problem is, with the old jimmy olsen, it was nice to see the dorky guy get the hot girl. now that you turn him into a stud, it's like ugh. just as bad as making thor the new janine. there's no fun factor..the hot guy always gets the hot girl ;o).

but yeah. Flash has some kind of plot to it....supergirl not so much yet. it basically seems to be a set up the villain, defeat the villain routine.
and if all kara has to do is throw the car door at him to weaken him, how does superman not crush him?

trying to make kara at the level of superman kind of weakens superman greatly.

oh, and dear supergirl writers. if you have more than one bruce jenner or kardashian mention in your series per season, I am dropping you totally. that useless family annoys me THAT MUCH.

She was in one episode auditioning to be someone's concubine for lack of a better word. Maybe 2-3 minutes of screen time, but quality screentime :) Additionally, CBS owns Showtime which airs Homeland, so free advertising as well.

ahh, cross promotion in jokes. gotta hate 'em ;o)

.

Yeah, there is because she's a terrible cliche of a dork and wouldn't last a day working in an office with that egostistical tyrant for a boss. When she's not at work, and not necessarily when she's being Supergirl either, she's more normal, so it's inconsistent. Also, even though she's only recently using her powers publicly, she's always had them and that would give anybody a confidence that she never shows. I just don't believe that Miss Milquetoast also is a superhero. There's too much of a contrast to be believable. And she's not putting on a dork act to throw off suspicion that she's Supergirl because she's only been Supergirl a short time. It's bad writing. Look at other supers, they have the same personality in and out of costume. It's not two halves of one personality, it's a single personality in different clothes and different circumstances.

Seriously, can you see Cat hiring Kara as her personal assistant? Never.

actually, I can. she is so in her own world, she probably thinks she does it all herself and the office is empty.

I'm watching the episodes in sporadic periods...but I don't see anything inconsitant with kara at all. I think Kara IS Kara. it's supergirl that's the disguise.

Keep in mind that reeve clark kent was a bumbling idiot in disguise as well...

You're a far more forgiving soul than I am, my friend. :)

I can because it could very well be that she would have trust issues and would want a naïve newbie type rather than
some insider that would exploit the position or betray her. Just a way to look at it.

Precisely this, coupled with the fact that, given her Kryptonian heritage and the fact that she's under a yellow sun, she has highly enhanced mental capabilities. Basically, she has a beyond-genius-level intellect, can calculate and multitask at an insane rate, has an eidetic memory, can receive, process, and store large amounts of data at once, and (thanks to the eidetic memory) can recall that information flawlessly.

Between Kara's youth, general goodness, and her Kryptonian abilities, she is, quite literally, the perfect person to have as a personal assistant.

Then why does she have to act like a bumbling bozo at work? That's my point, Kara should be completely confident.

She's not that bumbling, work is getting done to her boss's mostly satisfaction. It makes the character more relatable and endearing. Most people won't want to pull for the kick ass at work driven over achiever and if that's not enough... the kick ass superhero in their spare time. We need someone relatable on some level when they are capable of diverting asteroids.

I get your point, but it's just not working for me. I'm willing to give the show the benefit of the doubt since there only have been 3 episodes. Maybe as K grows more confident and experienced as a super, it'll reflect back on her whole personality and there will be character growth (I hope Cat isn't this cookie cutter the whole series as well). For me right now, as Neil noted above, she's doing the same shtick that Reeve did 40 years ago and we've seen that already, so how about something different.

Time will tell, gents. Let's see how it plays out.

Film, TV, books, it's all about how they make us feel, it's ok if it's not working. MOS did not work for me. I've had folks explain why he was the way he was, and good reasons, but the heart wants what It wants as they say.

Speaking of wanting what it wants.....
Wow, that Lucy Lane actress caught me off guard. daaaaaaaaaayyuuuummmmmnnnnn .

Yeah, Channing Tatum is a lucky man. That's his wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum.

A superior intellect does not equate to superior social skills. When she's doing her job, she's confident. However, it's when interpersonal relationships come about that she starts struggling.
