D.C.'s Supergirl (tv series)

I always thought it was a combination of UPN and WB. Only took me 10 years to learn otherwise! :lol

I believe it was, i think CBS bought the remnants of UPN and then the two merged.

As for the cross over, unless the actor's themselves are bound to the network it shouldn't be an issue. Both sides should see it as cross promotion as well.

I'm trying to remember if Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman did any crossover episodes after BW switched networks.

I honestly doubt I'll be sticking with supergirl much longer.....some of it is so cringe worthy...and I just can't get past the blatant femenistic style (or something a bit lighter) message...

Watching 'childish things' now...and the line 'Are you in love with her? Or are you afraid of her because she's a powerful woman?' or along those lines was just groan worthy.
to me, it's just not up to par with how good flash can be when it's on it's ball. which is a shame...because I really love the super girl character....it's a great but here, it's not handled well.

I think another season may not beat certain drums so much. Many series often vary in tone season to season. One thing I hate is referencing real people, throw away line about
not supporting a real world political figure for instance.. Don't do that. Rips me out of that world so fast.

I'm going to stick with it but I absolutely agree with you. It's like the producers think their feminist audience are a bunch of dolts that they have to continually point out "oh look, it's a female superhero!" to everyone. It's not just Supergirl, they do the same thing on Agent Carter.

Maybe they feel compelled to since there is so much which cute boy do I like most drama.
Anyways there is still lots of action and Kryptonian issues so I'm still loving it. But yeah time for some new ground to get covered next season.

Agreed. For a few episodes it seemed like the series had finally found the right tone and voice, but the past two weeks have been awful. The actors are fine but the writing is bad. It's becoming a show for 12 year old girls and they probably won't even like it.

It's a shame because it could be fun but it's dumb instead.

granted, i've only had time to watch 4 episode of agent carter...but at least when it's done, they do it in period time references where guys where jerks to everyone, including themselves without a second thought and could treat her like dirt. and even then, she sucks it up and ignores them, rather than whining about it like kat does with her grand men are evil speeches and women have to work their way up because only men have it easy. seems like supergirl is stuck in the 60s. when agent carter is firmly rooted in the 1940s.

to my memory of both shows, at least, there is a different tone in delivery and I think carter does it better.

super girl comes off more like a paul feig script at times.

OFFICIAL: Grant Gustin Will Appear As THE FLASH On An Upcoming Episode Of SUPERGIRL

OFFICIAL: Grant Gustin Will Appear As THE FLASH On An Upcoming Episode Of SUPERGIRL

It seems the rumors were true: after months of speculation and supposed confirmation, it's been officially announced that the CW's The Flash and CBS's Supergirl will indeed be crossing over.

It's officially happening! Fans of both DCTV shows will be delighted to hear that Grant Gustin will guest-star as Barry Allen/The Flash on an episode of Supergirl that's set to air on Monday, March 28.

Here's what The Flash and Supergirl executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg has to say in their statement. "

We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making ‘Supergirl’ – ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ are teaming up! We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”

Details on how the Scarlet Speedster will be introduced are under wraps for now, but there's a good chance it'll have something to do with his current Multiverse-hopping adventures. Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, while The Flash can be seen on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

Grant Gustin's Flash to Guest Star on "Supergirl" in March

It's official: Grant Gustin will appear as The Flash on the March 28 episode of "Supergirl," as announced Wednesday by CBS. Details on the episode -- including the plot, how exactly Barry Allen finds himself in "Supergirl" territory and the extent of his role in the episode -- have not yet been released.

"We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making 'Supergirl' -- The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!," "The Flash" and "Supergirl" Executive Producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg said in a joint statement. "We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone's enthusiasm and support."

Fans have speculated about the possibility of a "Flash"/"Supergirl" crossover since before "Supergirl" even debuted on CBS this past October -- starting with a Variety cover from May that featured both Gustin and "Supergirl" star Melissa Benoist posing in costume alongside Berlanti (who, along with Kreisberg, is an executive producer on both shows). Yet it remained unclear if a crossover between the two networks ("The Flash" airs on The CW, a joint venture between CBS Corporation and Warner Bros. Entertainment) was even possible, with numerous reports in December stating that legal reasons may prevent the two DC Comics heroes from meeting on screen.

It's also not clear how, storyline-wise, a meeting is possible -- if "Supergirl" exists on the same Earth as "The Flash," "Arrow" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," it's conspicuous that none of those shows ever mentioned the existence of Superman. Yet with "The Flash" delving heavily into parallel Earths and alternate timelines in its second season, there seems to be plenty of potential explanations to bring the two shows together.

"Supergirl" airs 8 p.m. Mondays on CBS.

FINALLY! It's about damned time.

agreed. they must be really desperate to either prop this show up, or do ANYTHING like a justice league style story this soon.

Or that people have been clamoring for a crossover since the announcement of the show...

After all, Ollie and Barry have been teaming up off and on for a while, and then there's Legends of Tomorrow...

well, there was that teaser image released in pre press stuff...so my guess is this was planned from the start......they probably just had to wait for the dc red tape to clear.

but yeah, legends of tommorow just seems like a justice league hold over to get people used to the idea of live action versions of these characters crossing over.

I think you're letting your dislike for the show blind you a bit... "Supergirl" is actually pulling in more viewers than "The Flash" (mind you this is because Supergirl airs on one of the "big three" channels)... here are the numbers from this week:

I don't have a problem with this show, or either of the other two-- Flash, and LOT. These shows are just the Hercules and Xena of the day, to me. Just some fun stuff to watch to kill some time. Not expecting any more than that.

Was this forum even around in those days? I would have loved to see the people here rip those shows apart.

Those shows were pretty dumb, but they really never pretended to be anything else. Sometimes you want dumb. They were intentionally parodying themselves.

This one, on the other hand, is actually trying to be a real superhero show and mostly it's succeeding, it just can't seem to get out of it's own way for an entire episode at a time.

I just had top stop watching Blood Bonds, 3 minutes into the episode because something happened that was so stupid I needed a break before I can go back to it. It's not really a spoiler, since it's only 3 minutes into an episode, but basically the bad guys had broken into the HQ of the tech millionaire thats sort of friends with the good guys sort of not. they all fought, then the bad guys just took off, and the millionaire guy is like "OK that was fun, but this is private property, so **** off" and Alex says "This is an active crime scene, we need to secure the area" and he's just like "I can take care of myself, this is private property so get out."

and they left.

Comic book or not, even if this was airing on Saturday morning, even kids know enough about the government to know: Never. Going. To. Happen. More like "Yeah whatever sir, please take a seat while we wait for the proctologist to arrive and climb right up your backside."

Can you imagine saying that to government responders at the site of a terrorist attack? "Sorry, private property, go away."

ugh...I know it's a comic book show, but surely at least one writer has a working brain?

If you waste all of our suspension of disbelief on stupid crap, we wont have any left for the super powers (and it really should be said at this point: Kryptonians punching each other is not as exciting as the producers of this show seem to think. Any damage they cause to each other heals in like 5 seconds, so it carries all the tension of a really angry pillow fight).

bah...I'll try again tomorrow. I still want to like this show. I love the character, and the actors are actually doing a good job in my opinion. They just REALLY need to let go of the idea that "comic book" means it has to be stupid. That hasn't even really been true of comic books since our grandparents time, let alone shows based on comic books. Isnt this why they stopped calling them comic books in the first place, in the hopes that people would see the difference between graphic novels and "funnies"? If so, doesn't seem to have worked for everyone.

edit: I finished the episode...and it ended up being a good episode overall. This is kind of what I'm talking about with this show getting in it's own way. If it was just a crappy show I could just forget it and move on...but it has the potential to be really great. All the pieces are there and even the writing is good when they actually try. On the whole, a good episode...they just need to learn not to be so lazy about it. There were other ways to get to that plot point that the guy is hiding something, without breaking the reality of the show.

i'm of the opposite......I think the writing staff needs to be fired, and they need to bring in actual fans of the character and her universe.
to me, the pilot episode was a mess.....and only one or two episodes have really felt like 'they got it down and understand'. the one where kat figured it all out was a good example...(even with the kat speech on her white male laywer included). but the rest of them.....the episode with general lane could have been good if they found a great actor to play general lane. he kind of bill murray phoned in the performance and made the character boring.

the Lane character makes it one too many and she doesn't really add anything to the show or the dynamic.

Jimmy wasn't really needed for this show at all....other than to add in a superman element. and if you think supergirl is powerful enough to stand on her own in her own show, do you really need a superman element at all? it should have been in the pilot, and that was it. save him for sweeps if you want to bring him in. the instant messaging thing with clark is especially goofy.

I agree that this show gets in it's own way. I WANT To like it, but there are just little things that take you out of it instantly.....and as someone else said, bringing in real world names and figures does that as well.. When Flash is on it's ball, I can't WAIT till next week. with this series..it's a chore to get through the episodes in one sitting. and it's a shame, because mellisa makes a GREAT supergirl.

Arrow just looks too dark and brooding to bother with (and when I think of arrow, I don't think of dark and brooding. I think of Justice Leauge CN Arrow). Leauge of Tommorow is just too many characters thrown in together and just too much. Gotham......I never even bothered with that. THe villains are only as good as batman makes them, and vice versa. when it's just cops after them, it looses something.

it's a shame. effects have finally caught up where a good super hero show can be done almost to movie quality on a weekly basis.

Yeah I kinda got the vibe that the show was sinking and needed to do something to up itself.

The ratings are relatively consistent, hovering around CBS average but it certainly isn't a major performer for CBS by any means.

I got through the rest of toyman. Smallville tired me out soooo much on the will he won't he plot line. whether it was the romance triangle, or identity issues, now it looks like supergirl is going the same route. Kara wants hot stud in relationship, ignores better option nerd. ugh. It so would have been better if that was jimmy olsen and they reversed the characters. then I could root for him even more. Jimmy and Kara having a thing was the cutest thing in the bruce tim animated superman. and they didn't even fawn over each other....just dropped subtle hints like clark setting him up with his new 'cousin'.. no goofy romance triangle needed.....cause that's for tweens.

and it's a shame. I like where they went with toyman.

also, a trained agent doesn't notice an extra camera attached to her purse? guess us nerds with a god complex aren't so bad ;). oy.
