D.C.'s Supergirl (tv series)

The Daily Planet tends to be interesting at least. Catco really isn't.

Maybe it is part of a larger plan. The implication though is that Superman always worked solo, so they're saying that Supergirl isn't as independent as Superman. And the last episode was reinforcing that she worked better with a team, not that she enjoyed it. That's why she said to Hank "I don't like you, but we work better as a team" or something to that effect.

It's kind of weird how they present Catco. It feels like a magazine, yet they're like CNN or something. Where are the producers, reporters, videograhpers, engineers, editors, anchors, studios?

Probably on lower floors of the massive office building they occupy. Not everything takes place on the top floor, you know. That's where the department heads and such apparently have their offices. You probably won't see someone from the lower floors up there unless specifically summoned, and that's generally NOT a good thing.

hmm???

Supergirl in all black, acting like a badass?

On the serious side of things, though, this was a really good episode. The scene where the little girl threw away her Supergirl costume? Yeah, it broke my heart.

Melissa Benoist absolutely killed it this episode, both in her evil scenes and especially when she woke up in the DEO afterwards.

But Winn, an IT guy, is right there with them? He doesn't seem like a department head. Just saying, but yeah, I get your point.

Her in this episode, Chyler Leigh in the last episode have both impressed me a bit. I'd only seen Chyler in that Teen spoof movie before. Didn't realize she could actually act.

This show still has it's silly moments (Thank God we don't live in a world where one news caster can denounce a hero and suddenly everyones like "Forget all they've ever done! I hate them now! News Corp. CEOs would never lie about someone else's character!"), but overall I'm actually really enjoying it.

I do still keep waiting for Clark to show up...but since the movie is supposed to be in a different universe I guess they can't really do that right now.

Man, Melissa gets better looking every episode! Have you seen those legs?! OMFG!!

Ok sorry, just had to let my inner teenager out for a second.....Yeah the Superman III reference was pretty cool.

Yeah, the series really continues to get better and better. Last night was the best episode by far, and I loved the SM-3 nod. Melissa Benoist's dramatic acting is quite outstanding. My favorite dramatic scene was her screaming heat vision attack on her mother's hologram. Calista Flockhart is really perfect in her role as well. I continue to hope Supergirl's identity is revealed to Cat Grant (again).

Awesome episode. I know I've been a little down on the show from time to time, but that was certainly worth sitting through everything to this point for. Was not expecting them to out J'onn quite so soon, gotta give them credit for that. Hopefully this will lead to a collapse of the DEO. Max was awkwardly shoehorned in, but at least his tie to the Red K worked and made perfect sense. Heck, he even wasn't considering Supergirl to be a threat? I can almost tolerate the guy if that keeps up.

Though unfortunately, if a good episode is one where the status quo is shaken this much, it doesn't speak well of the status quo on this show. Hopefully this is a turning point.

He may not be the IT department head, but Cat's the type of boss that's such a control freak that she would want the best of the best on her top floor staff, and no one can deny Winn's skills with a computer.

Another point I liked about this episode is that even Evil Kara maintained her job at CatCo. It would have been so easy for her to quit, but the Red K simply amplified her ambition. It started with getting rid of her direct competition and probably would have ended with her toppling Cat and taking over if she had not been cured.

It's amazing how a change in performance, poise, hair, clothing and makeup can completely transform a person/character. I was really liking the new Kara at first, before the personality changes snowballed.

Well, it makes sense. At first, she becomes more confident in herself, leading to the stronger-willed Kara, and as it progresses (as it often does in real life), confidence leads to cockiness, which leads to arrogance and then delusions of grandeur and a superiority complex.

Promos for Flash/Supergirl crossover:

Iliked the episode very very much, topped easily the other episodes so far by light years. I was laughing hard at the x-ray peek of her, I was geeking out at the Supes II nod with the peanuts flicking and Kara's transformation and reversal of Red K. I guess the next episode is harking back to the charity run of Flash and Supes.

Superman III nod, and there's one more episode before the crossover.

So, I should start with the next one in line, gender bended bizaro....groan....but, hearing good things about fallout, so starting with that.

They start with the talk? ggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnn...one person that might be a real life cat grant could be mrs.moonves. marry the networks head after you break up his marriage and suddenly you are everywhere.. oy.

this show really needs to drop this stuff...especially the 'i'm the city's most powerful...person..' oy.

This romance stuff also needs to STOP. I can't root for the hot girl going after the hot non jimmy olsen stud. of course they are going to wind up together..there's no drama there. it would have been far more fun with a real nerdy jimmy.

A Kim and Kanye reference, AGAIN?

all this stuff overides the nice little stuff I like. supegirls reaction to the hank hand hold. brilliant. her reaction to closet romance....the little girl scene.

I don't see myself following this show in season 2.....let alone after the crossover.

watching last nights episode..

sigh..

another one where the show feels like it gets what it needs to do.

yet, other things that they randomly setup, I just get a 'oh come on' reaction out of me.

The latest hero setup in last nights, for one..that seemed to come out of nowhere.
Lanes sudden reversal of heart (although I may have missed something in the episodes I skipped).

If this show could do better at setting things up....and dropping the real world references.....i'd give them a season 2 shot.

for instance, instead of product placement with the view, G Gordon Goddfrey could have been the show cat grant went on.
little things like that.....

oh well, lets see what solitude has to throw..

I did like the flash backs explaining things though. especially young kara's first save.
