I was excited to be asked to build this model because its delicate design would be a real challenge.
When I contacted my friend from the show to get the studio renders, he joked that the ship was never designed to "handle gravity". Well.. we'll see.
These are renders of what the model will look like when done.
The model will be 24 inches - roughly 1/1500 scale.
I took the unusual step of making the base and stand first and attaching it to the vac-formed central core because as the model progresses it will quickly become far too delicate to handle. For the base, I chose a shape that resembles the diamond profile of the models central core.
The power leads are in a channel routed out, then sealed in the back of the post.
The power jack is in the rear of the base.
A strip of LED's will light the interior as the CG model was lit.
