Custom gun / weapon racks:

Oh the possibilities are as endless as the varients of weapons that we collect. Nothing sets off an image of a great blaster like the background that supports it. However, more often than not, this detail gets over looked and seldom discussed as frequently as is should. Let's open the floor to talk about them and share ideas. But first up, some inspiration... :D

...try to get these images out of your head... :D

...and finally, one that I've built a few years ago...

I'm currently looking at a few other designs for a particular weapon that I am working on but would like to see some fresh ideas. What you folks prefer in this area? Let's see 'em...

I particularly like the racks illustrated in photos 1 and 2 above.

Yes, very nice racks.

...and the GT40 ain't bad either...

I perfer to KEEP those images in my head....

Onthe topic of gun racks and displays:

Thanks for starting the thread, Tom... I just got back from Home Depot and was looking at cabinets and allowing my imagination go... My replica gun collection is int he garage and in lain sight of the neighbors and neighborhood children. Those on my cul-de-sac al know they're fake, ut its time to conceal them...

Well, I know I'm not the only one, but I use Gridwall for my display.
Maybe not quite as nice as the first couple of photos on this thread :D , but I like it. It's extremely easy to change the display around when you add/remove pieces from your collection.

This photo is about a month old, and I've rearranged stuff since then. But you get the idea.

Tommin,

Perhaps you'd link to the "how-to" tutorial you did on the grid rack shown in photo # 3 for those RPF members who have not seen it.

What I am looking for is a rack or wall system versatile enough to hang guns ranging from Phasers to Pulse Rifles or Moritas. Peg board looks too workshoppish, the aluminum or stainless peg panels are too expensive, etc.

If there was a grid/mount system that was:
1. Affordable
2. Expandable and versatile
3. Had a good look so that sci-fi fans, military types and wives could all be happy with the appearance

I'd buy it in a heart beat. As it is, I may have to bite the bullet (pun intended) and buy some aluminum peg board in the brushed finish. It meets the requirements above except for # 1.

TOMMIN... How many times have I told you? DO NOT POST PICS OF MY WIFE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION...

Yeah...I wish...

Ask and you shall receive. :D
Custom Weapon Rack Tutorial

It was posted here once before but, looks like it has fallen off since then. You will find an itemized list of materials with it which I thought was handy.

who is that??? :eek (yeah i can read the name)

WOW.

anyone make a replica of her? :love

LOL.

nice displays too guys, like the grid type display there man, very minimilistic and neat, even non prop fans would look and say hey, thats pretty cool.

as opposed to someone wading through a house of props goin... you need help. :lol ;)

I like the versitility of the wire rack grid. Hoever I find the grid itself distracting. If and when I do one. I am going to try and use a light color grid against a similar color background.

Here's mine. It's been the same since I joined here in '00, the props just change.

It's 3/4 particle board pieces, carpeted, with 1" spacer planks behind them, and drywall screws with rubber tubing over them to hold the props.

As you can see, I'm mostly just into customs, now. I sold off ALL my replica lightsabers and blasters. Only room for my babies, now.;) And anything "vintage", since I got obsessed with Firefly.

Has anyone built a rack that is concealed in a cabinet, with a fake front (like a map of the world), that moves to reveal ones arsenal ? Think Wild Wild West t.v. series.

Not much in the way of a sci -fi look to my mounting technique :D Plenty guns from films, or as cloise as I could get - these are all airsoft as I live in the UK. If I lived in the US ...man I`d need a walk in vault.

THis pic is old - so theres lots missing - I`m actually putting up another bit of wall for moutning the other guns with my cinemaquettes and helemts.

Heres a link to some other pics of the wall CLICKY

:eek

Now that's a collection that would give Burt Grummer a wet dream.

What's the grey rifle, it seems vaguely familiar?

They grey ones an SL-8...its a civvie version of the SL-9 (which is just above it)

I`ve got a USC - which is a civvie UMP - the one bond used at the end of casino royale. The UMP is just at 2 oclock of the small Kampf grenade pistol :D Its not set up like the bond gun as it needs a pphat silencer IIRC
