Custom Engraved Shell Casings?

Anyoneknow if there's a place that does custom engraving on shell casings?
I know I've seen 44 mag shell casings with another word or name engraved on the top along with the 44 mag script.
I need to have some made up for a project if anyone knows of a source.
Thanks,
Erick

Ahh.... well for that you'd probably need a custom made brass. Turned by a machinist or something. Because to my knowledge any new casing you get will have the caliber and maker on it....

Big Primate Production did so for the shells used on Kong '05 (KK was added). Not sure where they had it done, but it is possible (easier if you had a bulk run done).

The caliber on it is fine. I just wanted to as a 7 characters to the opposite side of the caliber engraving.

All brass is stamped with the caliber and manufacturer's mark of some sort on the bottom of the casing. If you wanted a custom engraving, you would have to have a custom piece of brass turned (as mentioned above) and stamped from there.

This would be for a run of at least a 100 or more so going the cast way might be the way to go.
Any leads on who does that sort of thing?
Thanks agin,
Erick

This isn't a common kind of service. You will definately have your work cut out for you in finding someone who can do this. You may well want to try jewelers to do the actual engraving, while having the bullets custom turned from aluminum or brass, but they'd have to be solid I would imagine.

Have you looked up "dummy bullets" on ebay? You might find something there that could be engraved. Maybe the denix dummy rounds?

Please keep us updated on the boards.

I'll do some asking around at the range and see if I can find a business that does this kind of thing. Do you have a deadline on your project?

I have a small CNC machine that I can engrave with, PM me with more details and I can see if I can get this done for you.

I know you can get unprimed/empty casings from www.cheaperthandirt.com but I don't know (and it doesn't say on their website) what is stamped on the rim. I guess you could call and find out.

Hope this helps.

Well when I get unprimed new brass from whomever, it usually has both markings... I'll try to take pics tonight.

But if you find any without, I'd be intrested too...
